has vertigo bed taken down

does anyone know if vertigo at cedarpoint has been taken down. i can't find anything about it on their website. i know the part of it fell down, and i was wondering what happened
I don't believe they have done anything. If the park does anything with it and they let the public know, I'm sure you'll hear it here first.

You mean Vertigo really sleeps at night?

:)

Its still there. Just the 2 towers though.

No force312 Vertigo doesn't sleep at night. Its bed is being taken down. Can't you read ;)

Although I realize this thread will be closed soon, I'm pretty much convinced the ride will be going out. No one in the know has denied the rumor. All we seem to be getting from these folks are "Errs" and "Wait for the park to make an announcement." I myself have fallen out of the loop on this kind of information so I'm afraid I can't offer any "inside" info, other than some simple observations. For instance, if the crack developed during the winter when no one was maintaining the ride, what's to stop the towers from doing this every winter? If that is the case, it makes no sense to rebuild. I'm afraid this ride just wasn't meant to be at Cedar Point. Congratulations to anyone who got on the ride last year. Looks like you'll have to travel to California to experience it again :(.

I'll be frank... the results of the metalurgic tests (or whatever they're doing) haven't come back yet.

You're Jeff. How can you be Frank?

(Sorry, I hate to pass up a good chance at sarcasm.)

As of March 2nd the other two towers are still upright. (Went to the park for some picture taking, and also for dinner at Bay Harbor Inn.... Yum) Also like Jeff said, the test results haven't been released yet.

It has nothing at all to do with metallurgic tests. Something completely different and something that only Cedar Point would have to worry about. (This coming straight from Stan's mouth.)

Check out Westcoaster.net's Winter Coaster Solace Update to find out what I mean. Its slightly compicated, but it is explained nicely on the site.

Okay, that makes sense. But, if this was an isolated problem at Cedar Point, why have the others been closed and why have future installations been put on hold?

Actually, yes, the results have come back. Stan just told us yesterday at KBF Winter Coater Solace. CP decided to take the cables off of their ride in the winter which S&S nor CP knew would cause any problem. Now, when the cables were on they only allowed the towers to sway 5 ft or so each way. When CP took them off it allowed for more wind to get to it and not let the cables hold the towers together as a group as much (cables that attach to the car) . This allowed the towers to go 15 to 20 feet of swaying in the winter at nights when no one was at the park, or at least when he said no one was arround or noticed it. Finally one of the towers just gave. Word is that all the Absolutely Insanes are comming down. Stan didn't mention this himself however, I talked to a good source at MM today who said one of the main people in the area for Thrill Shot said that they won't have to worry about staffing it ever again. That's a good hint if I have ever heard one. Anyways, that's what I know as of right now and words comming back from Stan and saying that the report is done. Also, yes, I Know that Stan wants to keep going with AI's and I hope he does. They are my fav pay rides and I thought it was the best ride in the park before X opened at MM. I guess we will wait and see. He said the relationship with CF for them is shattered basically though.

That was basically what I was getting at, but didn't want to have to explain.

Thanks Chris Senn.

However, I very strongly disagree with the notion that all VertiGO rides are being torn down. I don't have any good evidence to point in either direction, except that Stan said he wanted to fix Cedar Point's ride and go back to buisness.

Personally, I feel Cedar Point should just fix VertiGo with Duct Tape! Give it the Millennium Force Treatment! If only 3M knew the possibilities! If only Red Green knew! If only posts that included ONLY the TRUTH and NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH were NOT DELETED! The General Public DESERVES to know the TRUTH! It's funny how JEFF only DELETES posts which are TRUE, yet he leaves the Bull**** Posts! Go Figure!
Damn, Someone's been smokin a ton of weed or crack! Where do some of these people come up with this stuff, I mean really? I enjoyed VertiGo, and I do hope CP doesn't get rid of this great ride.

I tend to believe that CP's VertiGo may be removed, but not the other two that reside in California.
No, that's exactly what Stan Checkets said. I was there also at Winter Solace and he explained to us (after being asked by a member of the audience) what had happened, and why the failure occured. As to the fate of the rest of the Vertigos, that was not discussed.
How can Stan say that the relationship between his company and Cedar Fair is shattered when he's speaking at a Cedar Fair park lol?

Crack kills. :)

Anyway, I don't doubt that everything Stan says is true. I also don't doubt that Cedar Point, knowing their extreme lean toward caution, will see what the tests they conducted show. At the end of the day, they're the ones who have to decide whether or not to put people on the ride.

I don't know if "shattered" is the word I would use, but I am sure the relationship is quite strained at the moment. Just as Intamin's was over Perilous Plunge. Stan did say he felt really bad as it's Cedar Fair's reputation on the line. That's the really strange thing about this business. In any other industry you would sue someone and move on to different suppliers. But because the amusment industry is relatively small, and because you never know what future ride you may want from a company, not to mention the servicing of your existing rides, bridges are rarely burned. So Cedar Fair maintains working relationships with these suppliers even though they may be less then happy with them at the moment. The exception to this is Togo which I guess Cedar Fair is not planning to ever buy from again. :)
