Has any park asked for help from GP.

Has any amusement park asked the general public for help in choosing there next coaster. I'm not talking about giving it a name but choosing the actual coaster.

I wish one would do that, that would be awesome!!
I'm sure the public sometimes will give them ideas for their next coaster but I've never heard of them exactly asking the public.

Sometime they do those questionaires about their roller coasters and that gives them an idea of what people are looking for.

Whether you believe it or not is up to you, but Kennywood has said their decision to keep the first two hills of Steel Phantom for PR was made after public outcry against the removal of the old Phantom.

I heard that when Gwazi was being built at BGT, they were asking the general public what coaster they would like to see after Gwazi, and suprisngly enough the top answer was a B&M Dive Machine with a Hyper Coaster a Close Second.

Time will tell on this info I bet.

Do you really think that the general public knows what a B&M Dive Machine is?

Could you describe the ruckus?
Didn't Holiday World ask ACER's for ideas when they decided on building the Legend?

Yes, they did. They even mentioned that at SRM this year.

I'm sure they use general popularity of other rides as a factor in decisions as well. It would be nice to see something like a poll where the GP could vote on different things about a park, but the problem is that everyone has their opinions so where do you sort it out!

I know rhey asked guests what they wanted for a new coaster at SFGAM the result was Raging BUll.

No offense but I would prefer that they don't rely on the GP for decisions like this. Most of GP is unaware of all the different types of coasters that are out their. They usually have a pretty limited knowledge of coasters (steel, wood, looping). Let the experts decide - at least then we know they are considering all of the options.

I take issue with that... If it were up to enthusiasts we'd have nothing but Shivering Timbers and SFNE's Superman at every park. There would be no Intamin Impulses, GCI twisters, B&M inverters, etc.

The "GP" isn't stupid, it's just that most of them haven't had the good rides at their home parks. You'd be surprised how many "common folk" I've talked to who think that Villain was the best ride SFO installed last year.

Thanks, but I'll leave it up to the experts, the people who design these things.

When I went to IOA, they interviewed me to ask what I liked and didn't like about the park. (As a member of the public, not as an Acer.) I'm sure that they use that kind of information in planning new rides.
