Harry Potter officially coming to Islands of Adventure

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. and Universal Orlando Resort are partnering to create the world’s first fully immersive Harry Potter themed environment based on the bestselling books by J.K. Rowling and blockbuster feature films from Warner Bros. Envisioned as a “theme park within a theme park” and titled “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter,” the new environment will become part of the experience within Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme park at the Universal Orlando Resort.

Sounds cool, but The Wizzarding World of Harry Potter? COME ON! WEAK SAUCE!
I know it does sound weak, but I was talking to my dad about this today and he said what if theres a way to combine the spider man tech. with the robotic arm tech. Yes this does sound out of this world and impossable but lets look at the park were talking about. The same park were anything is possable. I think it's time to out do themselfs and put a new name for the #1 spot for dark rides. Would this tech. be possable though?
The most interesting part of all of this is how is Disney going to respond. Granted, we probably won't know for a year or so, but I think it is really safe to say Disney will (if not have to) respond.

LOL, at the snail's pace that Disney moves at, their "response" was 2-3 years in the planning stages while EE was still under construction...

I just hope Disney starts IMPROVING the Florida parks, they had enough/too many when the third park was built...

Disney will forge a response to IoA's Pottersville and my guess it will appear at MGM Studios. It’s been a while since Tower of Terror and Rock'n Roller Coaster were installed. Its time for something new there, something with a movie theme like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom? Now that would make a cool mine-train coaster!

Anything less than huge runs the risk of getting lost in all the Harry Potterland advertisements which will surely saturate the airways before the grand opening. Imaginers are hammering away at a large attraction as we speak though, it may not open the same year.

I'm not sure I buy that at all. They're going to create the castle in the next few months? I'll believe that when I see it.

Here's a grumpy old man take on the project. The dude doesn't even get that it's just a section of an existing park, not a new park.
