Happy National Roller Coaster Day!

Seems odd to have it on a Tuesday...

I'll be celebrating with some Universal passholder ERT on Friday....where's everyone going today or this weekend in recognition of this.....holiday?

Pretty much every day of the year is a National Such and Such Day; today, for example, is also National Airborne Day, National Rum Day, National Bratwurst Day and National True Love Forever Day. (Tomorrow is also exciting: it's National #2 Pencil Day, National Black Cat Appreciation Day, and National Vanilla Custard Day.) National Roller Coaster Day is held each year on 16th August, so the day of the week it's held on changes each year.

For what it's worth, National Roller Coaster Day has an official website, though I find it interesting that the official website puts official in quotes....

If you listen to the Holiday World podcast, you can learn about such random holidays (Black Cat Appreciation Day was mentioned on the last one). And occasionally Leah will play the Jurassic Park theme on her oboe at my tweeted request. #HoWoPo

Wait, I thought tomorrow was National Love My Feet Day? (Really)

National Love My Feet Day didn't come up on the website of made-up holidays I was consulting. :-)

There's no way there's a National Love RCMAC's Feet Day.

You're right, Chris. Actually, it's more of a local celebration....

Celebrated last night at the first Universal Orlando Annual Passholder event.

On the ERT schedule...Marvel Superhero Island, Reign of Kong, JPRA and Raptor Encounter, All of Potterland Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley, and Hogwart's Express.

I read they limited attendance to 8,000 for each day (Fri/Sat)...nothing official though. We tried the new Hulk, not really impressed - better restraints would have been a big improvement, onboard audio really doesn't do much for me personally. Spiderman was running single riders...I could swear the rooms/villains were not in the same order. Could be me...weird. Got two rides on Kong right after regular park closing using the single-rider line (got on the same vehicle both times, even in the same row once). Big fans of this attraction!

On to Wizarding World...

Got on Forbidden Journey and Hippogriff in short order...the rollerskater seems so much faster in the dark. The whole Hogwart's area was just beautiful, definitely need to spend more time there at night. At the Dragons, Jill suggested a rare ride on Ice...I was OK with that, and we walked on to the second row. When we got off, it was already after 11 and the event was ending at 11:30. Having already walked IoA earlier and another lap now, she was ready for a break more than a trip to Universal....so she said she'd be happy to look around the shops and such if I wanted a ride on Fire (one of my very favorite inverts anywhere)....ended up getting three in very short order to end the night, on the same train...and made some new friends on the back row of Pyrrhock.

Thanks, Universal...awesome event! No idea if this was planned around Roller Coaster day (if so, next time add P-Flyers to the attractions list...oh, and Mummy too)....but you can skip Rock'it... ;~P

Actual roller coaster day not a coaster in sight for me. For the weekend...well technically one was in sight because I could see it from across the lake but I think it's experiencing some down time...a lot of down time...perpetual, indefinite downtime...

Haha... me too. We were at WWK today (Sunday) for one last visit. Though unfortunate, it's easy to see why it's closing.

It was packed Saturday. I'm sure at least some of the business this weekend was last trip people. We had actually planned to be at Cedar Point on the beach but changed plans to make sure we got the last WWK trip in. It seems to have decent crowds when I've been there but I've suspected that someday it would end. Maybe not this year but it doesn't surprise me.
