Happy Birthday Anton.....

Anton, your little Wildcat at Cedar Point was tied with the great ones. You are greatly missed.

Now he lives with the other rollercoaster gods in the big amusement park in the sky.

I agree with you SteveWOA. And he could make a coaster like SooperDooperLooper really awesome even though it doesn't really do much.

I also wish they would have put lapbars on Revolution and take the brakes off to commemorate Anton.

Lucky you Soggy sharing a birthday with the great one. Unfortunately my birthday was also the day he died. :-(

mmm.....shuttle loop...

In 15 days (today is 7/15/02) it will be the one year anniversery of his death. I didn't know that it was so close to his birthday!

Unfortunately, the first time I had heard of Anton Schwartzkopf was reading a headline of an article in Amusement Today entitled, "Respected coaster designer Anton Schwartzkopf dies at 77." After I read the article, I felt very bad that this was the first time I had heard of him. The really weird part is I did a report on him in school - Got an A.

I love roller coasters, and I need psychiatric help. Or a roller coaster.

Unfortunately thats the first time I heard of him too. I saw him on the coasterbuzz rollback. It seems like many people become famous after they die.

Out of the 104 coasters that I have ridden, sadly only 6 of them were Schwarzkopf's, proving that there are far too few of his coasters left in the States. All of them rank among my favorite coasters.

Sooperdooperlooper
King Kobra
Wildcat
Scorpion
Viper (SFoG)
Mindbender (SFoG)

I must say, Anton was by far my favorite designer of steel coasters. All of his coasters were marvels of engineering as well as works of art.
