HalloWeekends Questions

Hello all! My family and I are leaving for Cedar Point in the morning, our first time with our # year old son, and my first trip since 2007! Very excited... Anyway I have a couple questions about what's been going on at Cedar Point and some HalloWeekends info as well.

Is Mean Streak closed for the season? I thought I'd read it closes earlier in the year...

When we were last at Cedar Point in 2007 there was an awesome live music show at the Red Garter Saloon. They did a bunch of pop/rock songs from the late 80s through now. Anything like that going on now?

Are Kiddy Kingdom, Planet Snoopy, and Camp Snoopy open into the evening, or do they close early? I know Cedar Point in general is very busy on Saturdays during HalloWeekends, but how are the crowds in the kid's areas?

We are staying at Hotel Breakers, first time staying at Cedar Point. How is the Perkins in the lobby? Is it worth while for breakfast, or is it just mob scene resulting in poor service and lousy food? We stayed at the Best Western on Cleveland Rd previously, they have a Perkins, it was awful...

Thanks for any info, we are very excited! My son has ridden Bear Trax and Bobsleds coasters at SeaBreeze here in Rochester, rides with his hands in the air. He's hysterical. He tells me he wants to ride fast roller coasters at Cedar Point! Here's hoping the weather holds out, can't wait to leave Friday morning!

But then again, what do I know?

I can only answere the first question, based on my visit last Sunday..Mean Streak ran all day. I don't know if it was running when I left at about 8:15. there is a haunted house nearby, but MS was running while the Edn Musee was open.

I would imagine the show in the Garter has changed for HalloWeekends. I passed by there, but didn't go in. As far as the closing times for the children's areas, I can't speak to that. And I've never stayed on premises.

So on your questions, Shane, I guess I'm batting a robust .250.

The amusement park rises bold and stark..kids are huddled on the beach in a mist

I've eaten there with a group and it's actually not terrible. Service was fast enough but it wasn't the greatest breakfast in the world.

Last time we went for HalloWeekends they still played classic rock songs in the Red Garter Saloon, the only difference was that they were decked out in Halloween attire.

The song selections are generally the same, so the basic vibe is still there. Most critically though the show no longer features a live band. It reduces some of the power and energy the older shows had.

eightdotthree: Yeah I figured some of this would be on the Cedar Point website, but I'm using my work's wi-fi and cedarpoint.com is blocked even though I'm on my own computer.

TimChat2: So the Red Garter Saloon is just singers backed by an audio track, karaoke style? That's too bad...

But then again, what do I know?

They sing to prerecorded music. Some of the singers are very strong though, so the show more or less gets the job done. The band is sorely missed nonetheless. It really made the show something special.

The set list is tired, and the lack of a band is a bummer, but vocally that group is better than the Luminosity group. Dare I say that crappy 80's rock is a step up from even crappier current pop music, so maybe the selection has something to do with it.

Kiddy Kingdom and Planet Snoopy will be open into the night. Camp Snoopy closes at 7:00 PM to become CarnEvil.

Crowds in the kids areas are more manageable than the rest of the park.
