Halloweekends - Cedar Point, October 13

Associated parks:
None

I think that most of the complaints are justified as well. Too many people on here look at CP as the do nothing wrong golden child of theme parks. You can bash any park until your blue in the face but actually have a bad day or mediocre day at CP and you can be banished from the coaster community.
^^Oh I was thinking you were their during that hot weekend. Still, if it Saturday during Halloweekends you should just expect for all the vending machines to be sold out pretty quickly.

Not really. I was just telling the OP that I have gone to the park three times this year and never found it to be dirty or run down at all. Sure I guess some of the things he said can be justified, some not, the bugs really can't be helped as I said, greese on cash registers is a little over the top, puddles in the bathroom I wouldn't really consider making the bathroom dirty, I call a dirty bathroom overflowing trash can, paper towels all over the ground, and a nasty smell. Not just a puddle. *** Edited 10/17/2007 9:38:06 PM UTC by Parker17***

That's exactly what I meant. You described the condition perfectly!

That's a load of crap. Drop by PointBuzz some time and see how we rip the place to shreds on certain things.

^Yeah Jeff, that may be true on PointBuzz, but that rarely translates over here to CoasterBuzz. While I agree with the comment about spiders (I love arachnids), one would be hard pressed to ever see someone make a comment that spider webs in an amusement park is a good thing. I'd daresay that you'd only see it with respect to CP here on CoasterBuzz.

That being said, it's kinda amazing that CP would be unprepared for heavy crowds on a Halloweekend. Isn't it fairly consistant that they get packed to the gills? I know I went on a really heavy day a few years ago and I waited w/ GregLeg for about an hour just for some crummy chicken strips.....;)

They've set a record almost every week this year, so I'm not surprised if they're not prepared.

I don't think anyone in HR is surprised at the big crowds. Maybe a little surprised, but not shocked-shocked-I-tell-you surprised.

I think it's just a struggle to staff the place in the Fall---the international students have mostly left, because there aren't enough hours to keep them around. The college students have to live close enough to drive there and back for the weekend without missing too much school. Heck, a good chunk of the park is staffed by volunteers in the form of Ride Prides.

Not that it's okay, mind you, but short of offering $10/hour, I'm not sure what they're going to be able to do.

Personally, I'm wondering if it's not time to start cutting back the number of HW Saturdays a season passholder can visit. Once upon a time, you could go on a Saturday in September, or on a cold day, and do okay. I'm not sure that's true anymore. We were there 9/29, and it was still pretty brutal---and that had nowhere near the crowd the past two weekends did.

Kennywood is packed for Fright Nights too, I don't think it has anything to do with season pass holders.

Could be. If so, then I have no idea how they'll get a handle on it. Then again, maybe there's nothing to do. The people I see on a HW Saturday seem to be enjoying themselves.

Pointbuzz is probably the only amusement park site that actually will say bad things about the park that is the main topic of the board. Some of the other boards, if you make a negative comment about the park you're either banned or will be cussed out.
I really dont like Halloweekends. Its too busy and I just want to have a nice time at a park. Its not worth the 3 hrs for me to drive to stand in long lines when thats all I do throughout the summer at CP. I do think the park is nice during this time and think the atmosphere is awesome during the summer as well as for Halloweekends. I just dont like the crowds.
Steel Phanton, then you really need to try Friday Night or Sunday, you have very, very minimal crowds on those days.
