Half Pipe

Here's some excellent pictures of the latest Intamin invention that opened about a month ago. Anyone here who's ridden it yet? I'll have to wait a few weeks before I'll get to try it.

What park is that at? It looks like from the overhead picture that one of those coasters is Intamin's Tornado.

I believe this is different than an Impulse in that the seats rotate as you travel back and forth. At least that's what I could infer when he mentioned an Afterburner as a comparison. I might have to get my friend to translate this for me.

Coasters, kitties, beer n buddies - life *is* sweet :)

I´ve had the pleasure of riding Half-pipe, well what can I say. The initial acceleration is not that great, obviously because teh riders are sitting in a circle. The ride cycle is also pretty short, the board gets to the top only about four times. Other than that i loved the ride, it provides some nice airtime and gets incredibly close to the end of the track. In fact on one of my rides i think the board actually hit the plunger at the end of the track.

I heard that the OTSR were desinged so that the heigth limit would be 120cm but the inspectors decided that the limit will be 140cm. This mistake is even present in the park´s brochures. Because of the design of the OTSR, i can see some of the larger guests having trouble fitting into the ride.

You know, I rarely ever say a ride looks dumb but...

This ride looks AWEFUL!! I like the track and structure look, but a "Giant Skateboard?" it just doesn't look right with that structure. Maybe it needs some more seats or something. It looked great until I looked at the giant skateboard sticking out like a soar thumb. The ride just doesn't look like one structure.

I wonder if this can be made to travel. I see something like this at all the X-games.

Could you imagine how much that thing cost? It's intamin and overpriced. It might be better if Intamin could make it a full circuit.

Take off the stupid looking skateboard deck and add another set of rotating seats. It would then look like a very good ride for a smaller park.

They spin pretty fast for as small of a radius as that is.

Looks to me more like a flat ride then anything. Very cool IMO
