Haase Circular Switchback?

Tuesday, October 21, 2003 6:48 AM
I have been doing a little bit of research into some old amusement rides and came across something called the "Haase Circular Switchback." All I know is that there is a 100 year old example in storage.

Anybody know what this is/does?

Couldn't be that Bertrand's Boomerang ride, could it?

Or were you trying to research that and instead found a Haase Circular Switchback?

That's exactly what happened!

And I feel a model of the boomerang is forthcoming (flying scooter almost done).

Is the circular switchbacjk that inredibly strange, tilted revolving wooden structure that once was at Coney Island in its heayday?

I used to see it in that very good Coney feature film from a few years ago. It looks like an opened, upside down umbrelly spinning on its centre. Am I making any sense?

I know what you're talking about. I've always wondered about that thing.

The person who does know has not responded to my email.

Well, when he does, be sure to share with us!

For some reason, I knew you'd be looking further into that one ;)

I don't think I'm going to get a reply. I already exchanged a couple of emails with him about other things and he's probably bored with me by now :)

That's why I'm asking here. . . :)

Yup, IHC - I think it is one their better models (especially when you ditch the base).

Turbo: The flying scooter is a very popular ride among enthusiasts. It's an old ride originally made my Bisch-Rocco and recently recreated by Larson. See here, here and way over here.
