Gwazi to close for good Feb. 1st...

This coaster should be the text book of how to neglect a coaster....how to completely ruin what should have been a unique, amazing coaster.

CGI designs great, re-rideable rides. This thing is one of the roughest, most unpleasant wooden coasters that I have ridden IMO.

The dueling aspect looks like it was special, but they shut down one side. And last time I was there it was down to 1 out of 4 trains..

The operations were absolutely ridiculous. When they did run two trains on one side, one train had to wait quite a while to get into the station because of the way they checks belts, then bars.

Busch has been in the news several times for their budget cuts. This coaster was absolutely ruined by THAT. A park not willing to spend money to maintain a ride.

Such a shame.

I rode Dania Beach Hurricane in 2006 and it shot near the top of my favorite wood coasters list. Unfortunately it's location precluded me for ever making it back there again.

I just looked on my track record to see where I put DBH, and was shocked to see that it is not on there. I just added it. I loved it, and also regret that I only had one day with the amazing ride. I really wish someone would buy it or at least build a copy of it somewhere near me.

Now to figure out where to put it on my list... lol

Just got back from my Florida trip and my final ride on Gwazi and my only ride with MF's. It was a cool day but in the afternoon they were still running 2 trains (one lion and one tiger). It may have been the cold day and 1/2 empty train but the experience was hard to explain. It was both rough and forceless at the same time. In the roughness category, it was not SOB or Mean Streak rough. It was a little rougher than end of the season Beast rough from back a few years ago when it would go down hill during the year before getting some TLC in the off season. But, the ride was forceless. You were bouncing all over the place but there was little airtime or strong lateral G's. The ride seems to be meandering around the track. It was definitely a shell of it's glory days.

On a bright point, Falcon's Fury was a blast. Rode it 3 times. Cheetah hunt's restraints gave me issues. I could ride, but they dug into my shoulders worse than Maverick's so I only ended up riding it once.

Is it too much to dream of a Rocky Mountain conversion...?

^ I had the same thought, especially since they specifically say it won't be demolished right away.

But then again, what do I know?

Wait... Was Busch Gardens Tampa recently purchased by Six Flags?!?
