Gulf Coast Park Help & More

Sight-Seeing, Restaurants - Any place in New Orleans you recommend?

Two things I really enjoyed in N O.

The Aquairum is very nice, and right near the main drag and river, and mall.

My number 1 best secret is call Mardi Gras World.

You take the Ferry to the other side of the river at the mall on the river, and a van meets you on the other side. It takes you to the factory of the main float maker for Mardi Gras. You get a behind the scenes tour, and get to try on some of the costumes. It was a lot of fun for me. I have never been to Marid Gras so it was neat to see up close what the floats look like, and see them being constructed.

You should be able to ride Super Coaster at Magic Golf. I don't know if the rules have changed, but I know quite a few of us stopped there in 2002 in between parks at the ACE Spring Con.

Restuarants.. Joe's Crab Shack, Copeland's Cheesecake Bistro (best desert I've ever eaten), Houston's, Ruth Chris Steakhouse

Non amusement park entertainment.. Aquarium of the Americas, IMAX theater, and Audbohn Zoo or even a swamp tour if your not familiar to the area, Riverwalk, French Quarter, Bourbon Street for nightlife

I live about an hour away from N.O. so I've been there many times. It can be a fun city this time of year but much much better during Mardi Gras.

Hwy 98 to N.O. from PC is about 3 hours depending on stops and traffic..

We called several times and Magic Golf said the coaster was for kids only. :(

No problem really since that would take off an hour or two of driving.

We considered doing a walking tour of the French Quarter and we also were thinking of seeing a cemetary as well. Any clue if there are reasonable parking charges in the French Quarter? Is the end of June usally pretty "touresty" for N.O.? Or should the tourest levels be pretty reasonable?

June can be very busy around New Orleans since there's several conventions going on that book up hotels in the area. However, for tours and stuff I don't think it would be a problem. Parking in New Orleans can be a hard thing and parking lots charge most often by how many hours the car will be in the lot. I can't remember how much it costs though.
