Guests can "Glow With The Show" at Disney California Adventure

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

The brand-new “Glow With the Show” Ears are spreading light and color all over Disney California Adventure park. From the Mad T Party, to Cars Land and more, these new ears make park guests a part of the show like never before. In the video below, watch as the entire “World of Color” audience lights up and glows with the show!

Wow, this is some serious "Disney magic" here. I can't help but drink that Kool-Aid®.

DCA is giving me lots of reasons to buy a plane ticket to Cali ASAP.

I'm sheriff of this here rollercoaster.

One of the Disneyana blogs mentioned that Disney can also turn off the ears remotely in e.g. Mansion.

(But, yeah, I've already added $100 to my February DLR budget to get a set of these for me and mine.)

The effect is mighty cool, but it will be interesting to see how many people actually buy them. Since you wouldn't really be able to see the ears changing color on top of your own head I assume the appeal is that you are a part of the show and that others can enjoy the effect.

It will be hard for many parents to tell their kids 'no' once the kids see how cool the ears are on everyone else in the crowd.

That's the problem with parents these days...

Hi

The effect is of course dependent on the number of people with them on. The videos you are seeing (for the most part) are from the first preview night where they were given "free" to the attendees. These first few weeks will have much less penetration.

However, keep in mind that Disneyland is a locals park and that locals ( who pop in to see WoC on a very regular basis) will see the value in these (they're not one time use for locals) and so expect to see the impact ramp up dramatically by end of summer.

Trust me, they are super annoying. They really distract from the show.

They also make it harder to see over the person in front of you if you must stand behind someone.

They are just as annoying as someone holding their camera over their head and having their LCD screen shine in your face. This idea flat out sucks.

The cool factor of the video is because it is taken from a distance.

Hey, wait a minute: doesn't the Grinch belong in a Universal thread? ^^
