Way to go Jeff!

Wow, 400 to 600 feet will look so cool! Just imagine seeing something twice the height of MF when driving up the causeway!

Hopefully you submitted this although Jeff probably already knows about it.

Chitowns 6 year old daughter says "Daddy, Dippin Dots are nasty!!" I must say that I agree!!
I have already sent it in Chitown, I just thought I would post here until Jeff gets the News. Is the link not working for anyone else, I thought yahoo gives an expired page not a 404 error page.

It's amazing that both a respected TV news department and a newspaper would publish rumors from a web site. What are these people thinking!

".....new Intamin LIM ride will be very big... how big? No exact height was set, but we were told that this may be the tallest attraction in the park... which means that it would have to be taller than the 330 foot Space Spiral tower. Makes me wonder if they may be trying to beat the height record set by SFMM's Superman: The Escape which stands 415 feet."

I would love to see that built, maybe its an upgraded version of either S:TE or MF. So far what it seems from the pics its a better version of S:TE. But from the rumors here it could be MF but bigger, faster and has inversions.

Really, you get a coaster bigger than MF with inversions from that article? That's a whole lot more than I got out of it...

Mayday - Memorial Day Weekend - Nonpoint, Nickelback, Oleander, Staind
Ozzfest - June 8 - Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Black Sabbath
Awake Tour- June 15 - Darwin's Waiting Room, Puddle of Mudd, Deftones, Godsmack

I don't think it's going to be like S:TE because, (I'm getting technical), S:TE uses LSMs not LIMs so I'm not sure if it will be like S:TE.

Sorry Pete but I'm not sure there is such a thing as a respectable TV news department.

"The Coaster-world.com Web site states it has information from a "very reliable source" that the new ride will be a "record-breaking inverted Impulse coaster from Intamin." The height will be 400 to 600 feet with a top speed of 90 mph and could be a dual track ride, according to Coaster-world.com."

Whoa! My thumbs are crossed. :)

In the other thread on new ideas for impulses Jeff said; "Ask and you shall receive... just think 450 degrees of total rotation."

Could this be a spiral spike with one & a quarter turns?

BTW, the funny thing is a year ago when I ran a CP recreation on RCT, I built the tallest possible Reverse Freefall on the left side of the park on the lake! Yeah, I know the 'footers' are on the right side of the park.

Say, can you really pour a footer on the beach? Won't the sand erode away & from underneath as well? Are MF's footers right on the sand or what?

*** This post was edited by Taipan on 10/26/2001. ***

I'm taking this as either a completely new style of impulse, or a standard impulse+200 feet. Either way, I want to belive it's an impulse, not a reverse freefall. RFs have LSMs, impulses have LIMs, so unless Intamin redid the RF technology, thats not what CP is getting, depending on how accurate the article is.

This makes you wonder, if it is going to be a dual track impulse as Taipan said, do people high up read just plain old for the GP forums? I've seen multipule times people sugesting that a park build a dual impulse here at CB.

That's a load of crap. It is news because there is construction. This is a typical "kicker" story, one that is lighter and good for ending a newscast on, especially when most of the news isn't good through the rest of the show.

"As far as I can tell it doesn't matter who you are. If you can believe, there's something worth fighting for..." - Garbage, "Parade"

I think this is pretty funny.  News reporters distorts everything. Last year after SOB was built at pki, an article came out claiming that the next year ride was going to be 378 foot tall multi inversion and something like 104 mph. As much as I would love to see this happening I honestly doubt it will. I don't think cedarpoint would want to build a coaster bigger than MF for a while espiecially since they put out 25 million dollars for it. I 400 to 600 dual coaster would cost a tremendous amount of money.
