GRP knew it was going to be 39 coasters

Wouldn't all of us have traded places with any one of them given the chance? It looked like fun. (And then...you would be the target of these posts that are complaining. How would you feel then?) And don't forget about the lengthy preparations and the time invested starting months before. To condense it all into that show cannot do justice to the total scope of the project. And of course if WE were to ACE what Dave E. is, WE would be in the forefront of such an effort. C'mon now, right?

Mother, did it need to be so high?

If you say "Boo on them." Then I say "BOO on you!"

If you could have been on the team, you would have been loving every minute of it, and you know it. Oh, and to all of you who say that kiddie coasters should not count, you better take them off your track record then, practice what you preach!

I could have done without that guy David Curly on the show. Man he got annoying after a while! I also thought it was a tad pathetic how sad evryone was after the booing.

What the mo K!?!
Soggy, not to start an argument. But who cares about the track record??!! I will gladly take the kiddie coasters off of mine. I could care less! I havent even updated mine in a year.

I dont think I would have booed these people but I think it is ridiculous the way they went about breaking this record. I can understand why those there booed them though. Having been in line for an hour and a half for M. Force and then having to wait another turn because a VIP came in and took my seat DID make me a little mad. I think it would most people. Anyone who is physically able should have to wait in line like everyone else. Watching these people ride a bunch of kiddie coasters was a waste of TV time IMO and I will switch over to The Animal Planet channel the next time they replay this special! Honestly, I thought they looked ridiculous riding those kiddie coasters.

I didn't say kiddie coasters don't count, but it seems like half of the coasters they rode were either kiddie, junior, or something small.

I guess I practice what I preach, all the kiddie coasters are gone from my track record. I can honestly say it doesnt bother me in the least!

Where can a team like this go and ONLY ride big coasters? I'll tell you where, nowhere! ALL parks (with numerous coasters) have an assortment of some large, some family and some kiddie coasters. It is a fact of roller coaster life.

CPTwister, I have no intention of starting an arguement, I was merely stating that kiddie coasters DO count as coasters. Even if you don't think they should. And yes, they did look silly riding them.

"If this was done on the East Coast it would be easy to break the new record of 40.

That would be impossible unless they flew by plane. California has more operating roller coasters than any other state in the country. So in order to break the record on the East coast (like you confidently stated) you would need to be air chartered to at least 3-4 different states to get even 35 roller coasters.
I agree that most major parks have some kiddie coasters. But GRP went to a couple parks where that is really all they had was junior and kiddie coasters. That was lame no matter how you look at it IMO. I know kiddie coasters are coasters (obviously). My point is that if you are going for a record and attracting that much attention you should make an effort to hit the major coasters only. It seemed like half of the coasters they rode were kiddie or junior. They should have gone to Disney over some of those lame coasters. Why didnt they? My guess is because they had no connections there. My analogy would be like this. It is like someone setting the record for eating the most hotdogs by eating 100 foot longs. Then the next person eats 90 footlongs and 30 regular size hotdogs and takes the record. There is just something kind of cheap and unfair about that IMO.

The record doesnt bother me so much, it is the special privilage and access they got. Why are these people so important? Because one of them is in ACE. So what! I think ACE is very overrated and they think they speak for the entire coaster community and they dont! *** This post was edited by CP Twister on 6/1/2001. ***
Go to Kentucky/Ohio/Pennsylvania.

I don't know what the other moderators think, but I think this argument has gone too far already.

Some like it, some don't, but the point is they broke the record. If it bothers you that much, go try to break it yourself (and invite me!).

I don't like it, but ob-la-di, ob-la-da, life goes on. I won't lose sleep over it.
