Greyouts / Blackouts?

Don't discount the lack of sleep either. Your brain is not operating on all cylinders when you are sleep deprived (even one night), so in this case the 1 hour of sleep plays a significant role.

That said, it's not abnormal at all and I see no need to run to a doctor who would simply tell you everything we're telling you here. I get the grey-out most times on the pullout from MF. Interestingly, I used to get this effect on Mantis in the first loop after the drop, but in multiple rides I have yet to experience it on Rougarou.

Must be that heartline. :)

Out of sheer curiosity, how old are you? Age can also play a factor in grey-outs becoming more common.

That part on Nitro doesn't even seem that fast but I feel a weird tugging at the base of my brain on that helix, which I imagine is a precursor to greying out.

The only times I've experienced that were Intimidator and Geagua's Serial Thriller.

The only reason I posted this is because
I have never experience a grey-out before, and I've ridden all of the rides at cedar point before my experiences.
I've ridden millennium at least four times, and only greyed out on my latest trip.

The only rides that really had gotten to me were the Giovanolas, largely due to the duration of the forces IMO. The Vekoma GIBs were REALLY forceful, but the peak G-force was very brief. NB: I'm not someone who dislikes the sensation *at all*.

Then, during CP's Campout event, I got a few re-rides on MF *early* in the morning after very little sleep and probably somewhat dehydrated. I fared better than the bird we clipped....

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

A couple of things to note. As we age, these events do become a bit more common. I've found myself able to tolerate some rides better with age others worse. But that aside, the most common thing is slight dehydration, even if you have a water bottle with you. Cedar Point can be interesting in this regards. Because it is right on the lake, sometimes we think of the nice cool breeze as keeping it comfortable, but by the same token, it can also be dehydrating us. It doesn't take much on some rides. Factor in tiredness (which also becomes more of an issue with age) and I can see this happening.

Blackouts / greyouts are caused by the brain not receiving enough blood flow. If you are dehydrated, potentially you can have either high or low blood pressure depending on exactly what happens. This can lead to headaches and loss of consciousness, which is essentially what a blackout or greyout is a precursor to.

It is something you will want to watch over time. It probably is nothing serious, but by the same token, could be an early sign of heart issues.

For me at least, there's a definite correlation with how much sleep I've gotten the night before. Being tired and hungry can definitely make me more prone to greying out.. MF is a good one for me, I can get tunnel vision that usually lets up right around the tunnel. It's very ironic.

The only thing I remember greying out on was Mantis and possibly Demon Drop. Demon Drop may have been an anxiety thing it was so long ago I can't be sure. The problem with Mantis was the standing up. It happened at least once when I was younger but the real problem was after I was put on beta blockers and ACE inhibitors. Rode it twice after that and both times I was seriously worried Iw ould be out when I came to the station. I could just feel everything pooling in my legs. I've never had the problem on any other coasters before or after meds. I'm careful to stay very hydrated though because of medical issues. On hot days at the park I bring several bottles of Gatorade in addition to the water.

I can think of some coasters that I wish I blacked out on for the entire ride, like Comet at Great Escape, Super Manage, and SFA's Mind Eraser. In therapy now to erase those memories.

The only ride I can think of was Shockwave at Six Flags Great America. I know it's old, but the curve right after the third loop always seemed too rough. I went on it once, where the train sailed through the mid course, and hit the boomerang and corkscrew at full speed. The head banging was so bad, some of the girls riding had their ear rings ripped from their ears. and people were staggering to the exit.

The same day, a train slammed into the midcourse and stopped making a huge grinding noise. Probably the reason why a lot of similar rides no longer exist. The only other ride I can think of is Raptor. And, that only happened once while going through the cobra roll.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Mean Streak. But, I wouldn't consider that a grey out. It's more of a mind numbing, rattling, crapfest.

I didn't do it! I swear!!
