For those expecting the coaster to be open this weekend, word of mouth has it that there is a delay. Apparently the media event is being postponed to a later date as well.

Crumbs... better be open for SRM so we can restart the whole debate about counting a coaster twice!

Is it the real yellow or the yellow that they had on the coaster cars??

Uhh, that was a joke.. I don't take anything to do with coasters serious. *rolls eyes*

And for the record, I miss Viper.

I'm not worried. I can't imagine they wouldn't get it running by the end of May.

I dunno...

It's taken them fifteen years and they still can't seem to get the Quake running... :)

Actually, I think they're still trying to figure out how to get Quake out of the park. There's SFStL's new attraction for 2004. ;)

We were thinking about going to SFKK on Sunday, so I hope they might have GL open by then.

I don't know how long it takes to test a ride like that but we were there on Sunday and I didn't see the train anywhere.

The rest of the ride looks great.

briansmyth....here's a link to a good pic on Paul Drabek's site... http://www.negative-g.com/SFKK/SFKK2002/SFKK-2002-12.html . Scroll down to see what the ride looks like in its normal (i.e., non-operating) state...;)

Rideman - I've been to SFKK at least 1x/yr since 1999 and I've always ridden Quake. My problem with the ride is not that it's closed, it's that they run a lame program.

I just drove by today, and I saw five cars on the track.

I know that parts of the train went out for painting, but from what changlover said, perhaps the parts are back and installed already. I think it'll be open by next weekend.

I actually rode it during my trip in 99. It doesn't go upside down does it?

T-ninja - not with the program they run, no. But it *can* go upside down.

Chris - I've ridden the one at Six Flags Mexico and didn't notice anything different about the ride. Of course the program they were running, while more extreme than SFKK, also did not go upside down.

Still, thanks for the clarification ;)

Moosh - looking forward to riding your Top Scan on June 22nd!

If you haven't ridden Quake, you're not missing much. I have ridden it more than a few times, and have to say it is really lame.

The thing only operates every blue moon and when it does it typically only loads one side... the one facing away from the midway. It is a sloooow loader too. I only recall seeing it operate once last year. From what I understand, it pulls a lot of juice. It actually dims the lights in the area (for instance Thunder Run's station) when it operates.

It reminds me (different ride) of the old Gladiators Gauntlet that lived at BGW for a few seasons in the late 1980's. As with GG, it looked like it would be lots of fun, but then I got on and found it a total yawner.

Alas, all a park has to do to generate interest in a ride is keep it closed. Seems like no-one cares for an attraction until it isn't operating. Truth be told, I couldn't care less if Quake is open OR closed. Rip it out, blow it up, set it on fire, I will shed no tears.

I remember Gladiator's Gauntlet well. The thing looked insane from the ground, but it was about as exciting as a park bench.
