Great....Rain at Gadv!

Every time I plan a trip to Great Adventure, it rains! What do you know, rain this Thursday and Friday when Superman opens... Is anyone still going? I still really want to go because usually, it doesn't rain.

See meeting calendar. I'm definitely still going. I spammed all the folks on the meeting calendar. Mail me if you want to meet. (BTW, went opening Sat., park was empty. Light rain. Opening Sun. was great. This last Sat. had a little drizzle in the morning, but by the time I got to the park, it was beautiful. Everything a walk-on then too.)

Are you kidding, rain is a blessing at that park. That is the only time you can get to ride freely without mucho gente!

I try to go on days when rain is predicted. Upon arrival I do a rain dance and the sun usually comes out ;)

Rain is a given for any media day. So far, there is an excellent track record for it. For NITRO, it was approximately 40 degrees and rained on both preview day and media day. And let me tell you, traveling at 80mph, with 40 degree temperatures, in the rain, is not fun. At least this time we will be traveling face down so we wont feel the rain :-)

AM showers is the perfect forecast for a day at the park. Keeps the peeps away and the cool air makes rides feel much faster. On top of that, it makes the day not hot, which during the mid summer months is really nice.

Well, as of now the rain should let up half way in the day. Usually i check the weather the day of the trip and everything looks fine. I'm still going and i'll be in the front of the park at 9:30am in a Black Freelander or Kent Green Discovery truck.

I'll be there for the search for heros essay contest.I'm in the top 10 and will be there to ride superman:ulitmate flight as on the the first riders.I can't wait to ride skull mountain finally if it opens. Hopefully, none of the rides will have long lines.

I will be there. The park just gets less crowded when it rains.

well i gotta say that i love when it rains because that is when there is very few people and barely any lines. I went to Gadv on april 6th and its was about 40 and raining, most rides were open with absolutely no line. I went on medusa 3 times in a row with no wait in line. I work at Gadv too so i know that on that april 6th, 3,500 people came to the park.....so for some advice, Dont hope for an 80 and sunny day because that is when you have 30,000+ people and 3 hour wait in lines, that is why you go to SF on a mon. or tues. and hope its not "beautiful" out. About superman... for some reason i dont think it can compete Vs. Nitro and Medusa since superman will be shorter and slower... the only good thing about superman is that you are flying. but another coaster cant hurt a park, just hope its not another viper...
See you on media day!
Maximus, I so know what you're talking about. I heard that Superman in Georgia wasn't very exciting. I really hope this coaster becomes a fav for me but i don't expect it to beat out Nitro or more the Chiller.

May I ask where you heard that it wasn't exciting? Must be different than the one I rode...

Oh yeah, that's a walk off challenge my friend.

Why worry about the weather? Is it that big of a deal? Forecast can be dead wrong, except for the two-and-a-half feet of snow Baltimore got in February, but I digress. Bring some outdoor gear just in case and enjoy the day!

It's going to F'in rain tomorrow, all day! I'm going to wake up at 8 anyway cause as you said; the weather can be wrong.

Well, there was no rain there today, but it was windy and cold! We took in 3 laps on Superman and one on Medusa, and that was enough. The rest of the day turned into picture time.

I did just the opposite today, geneticfreak. That was some sad picture taking weather. Spent the first bit of the day getting pics and video of Superman, then pretty much put the camera away and took advantage of the non-existant lines. Was anything (except Superman) not walk-on today? (ok, we waited 2 trains for Nitro)

Lots of re-rides, most of them without leaving our seat. Medusa was empty, we seriously got somewhere around 10 consecutive laps before we got off the ride because we were cold. Who knows how long that could've went on. You probably could've stayed on Rolling Thunder long enough to claim ownership rights. We got a solo front seat ride which was cool - well, as cool as Rolling Thunder gets. Even GASM didn't benefit from being next to S:UF today, trains were running with 4 and 5 people on them.

Great day for riding if the cold didn't beat you. We stuck around for about 6 or 7 hours but decided to skip the ERT as the whole day felt like ERT.

I agree that the sky was not cooperating for pictures, but the cold did beat me, so I settled for what I could get.

Besides, it was cool to meet Mick Foley!

I went to gadv at about 6 o clock. Got there and Superman was closed. It was supposed to be opening at 8-11 for the season pass premier rollercoaster time. At 8 i went over and there was a guy standing out there telling us that Superman will not be opening tonight or tomorrow because of technical difficulties. sucked big time

Oi! What a day. I got there about 2 p.m. I managed to get 2 laps on Superman before it became hopelessly "broken" (wasn't the first time they had problems that day). The train that got stuck on the lift hill was the one immediately after my second ride. (Could have been me up there.... yikes!)

Beyond that, it was just TOO dang cold to enjoy much else. One lap on Nitro in the freezing cold wind was enough to convince me I'll be back PLENTY of times this summer when it's warmer.

Oh yeah... nice to meet yah ApolloAndy! I never did find Rollocoast.

Nice to meet you too. I bumped into him briefly, but not for an extended period of time.

I went today as well, and S:UF opened with the park and was running very smoothly when we left at 12:30 (see TR). Got 6 laps in about 2.5 hrs. I guess it's a good thing I didn't ask/listen to that guy at the gate.

From the pictures the station looks spectacular. For those who have ridden this, has Superman dethroned Chiller in having the best station in the Park?
