Great wood and Great Steel?

Another URCer moved onto the buzz.  I love the URC folks, even if they are a bit...old (haha, gotcha by <2 years) and WAY too polite!  Good to see you at CB, you'll find several of the old gang here......rollergator (Bill and Jill from G-ville)

Being as how I, and a few others (Cmiesen and Peabody) have been to Nagashima, I can say without a doubt that White Cyclone and SD2K might very well be the best 1, 2 punch in a steel/wood category out there.  You can run back and forth between the rides all day, as their queues are quite close to each other (on the same end of the park), and they are each wonderful representations of their prospective body styles.  There will be endless debates, mostly by those that haven't ridden either coaster, that neither are as good as american coasters, but rest assured knowing that is NOT true.  Everyone needs to ride WC.  It is the real reason to get to Nagashima.

SFoT, SFoG, SFWoA, and SFGAm are probably the best bets, although you can make a case for Blackpool as well.

Wolf...have to agree with you about Blackpool.  Forgot about that one.  I love the Big Dipper.  Long, fast, and runs through the Big one a lot.  Nice.....

Okay.  I guess my "real" question is:  Why are the top 10 (pollwise) or so woodies (ST, Boulder Dash, Phoenix, Legend, Raven , GR, Rampage etc.) in parks w/o big (hyper, floorless, big-invert, big looper) steel?  Are the big corporate parks just not willing to put the $5 million down on a nice woodie and would rather just keep filling their ranks with steel monsters?

You can basically go higher, faster, steeper and newer with steel coasters, that appeals to large parks looking to make a buck.  I'm sure there are other reasons that I'm ignorant to, but a huge steel coaster is easier to market.
