Thursday, June 22nd:
We arrived around noon.
Checked into the Comfort Inn hotel. Dropped off our bags.
Had lunch at McDonalds.
Played mini golf at Pirates Cove. Easy/scenic course.
Rode Avalanche. OMG!!!! What an AWESOME ride!! Of course we rode in the back. Because I heard that this ride was a little shaky, I kept my hands on the bar. But at times, that was THE ONLY thing touching the car. GREAT airtime on this ride!
We drove through downtown and the main strip.
Went on the Original Duck Tour. AWESOME!! Our tour guide had the best personality.
We checked out Kalahari Resort and discovered that we have the opportunity to get our picture taken with a lion cub.
We had dinner at Moosejaw Pizza and Brewery...VERY good restaurant!
By then it was late, the guys crashed and Melanie and I went to Cold Stone Creamery.
Friday, June 23rd:
Had breakfast at Paul Bunyon's. YUM!! Talk about THE BEST buttermilk pancakes EVER!!
Spent the day at Mt. Olympus.
We rode Hades 2 times. I wasn't expecting the tunnel to be pitch black! I thought there would have been a light on, or something! But it was awesome! I LOVE the part where you go downhill right out of the station, very nice feature! Very fast coaster! The go-cart tracks were fun, but everyone was a bit "aggressive." Maybe it's just me, when I ride go-carts, it's not about "the race" it's about enjoying the ride. Most kids don't understand that. We went on a few outdoor water slides. The water was flippin' cold!!! So we went to the indoor water park. That was MUCH better! We were flying down the slides! I couldn't believe how fast we were going! We rode Disk-O. That was an interesting ride. I'd ride it again.
We went back to the hotel and cleaned up, then had dinner at River Walk Pub. There's a wonderful balcony you can eat on with a very nice view of the river. Very good food!
Saturday, June 24th:
Had breakfast at Mr. Pancake. So-So. Paul Bunyon's is better.
We went to Market Square Cheese. It's been ages since I had cheese curds. But I ended up not getting any.
Then we went to Kalahari to get our picture taken with the lion cub. His name was Atlas and he was 3 months old. It was an experience I have been wanting for a LONG time and I enjoyed every minute of it. After they took the pictures, we got to pet Atlas. It was awesome!
After Kalahari, we went to the Wollersheim Winery in Prairie Du Sac. It's about 30-45 minutes from the Dells. That turned out to be more beautiful than I would have expected in Wisconsin. We ended up purchasing 3 bottles of wine, and the tour was great! If you enjoy wine, it's worth the trip.
We had a late and light lunch at Secret Garden Cafe.
Then we went to play mini golf at Pirates Cove again. This time we did the difficult course.
After mini golf, I HAD to ride Avalanche again. Steve didn't because he had a slight headache. Riding that would not have helped any. I wanted to ride the Sky Scraper, but I wasn't willing to spend the $20 to do it. Not to mention I would have ridden it by myself. No one wanted to ride it. =(
Then we went to a cigar shop so Steve and Jon could have a cigar to smoke out on the deck at River Walk Pub. We had dinner there, again, that night. While the guys were picking out their cigar, Melanie and I went down the street to pick up salt water taffy and some fudge. The fudge that I got wasn't as good as I remembered.
Sunday, June 25th:
Had breakfast at Paul Bunyon's and headed home. =( *** Edited 6/27/2006 7:03:33 PM UTC by coasterlover325***
I'd rather be riding Roller Coasters....or baking.
Glad you took the tips, used them and expanded on them. I've found that many times you'll miss the Jewels of a area if you don't ask about em.
