After a few years of hearing about and seeing on TV how great Comet at Great Escape is, I will finally ride it next month. I get the feeling it rivals Knoebel's Phoenix which I have ridden numerous times. The buzz rating for both is remarkably close. Phoenix car 1/seat 3 is well known, a "must ride" seat, I don't have to say more! My question: is there a "must ride" seat on Comet?
Thanx for any opinions.

Mother, did it need to be so high?
I'd say 1-3 is a good choice for airtime - this coaster has plenty of it. I also like the front and back. Honestly, the Comet gives a slightly different ride each time, but never a bad ride that I've found. It seems to run better later in the day too. Definitely right there with the Phoenix and in my opinion, maybe even a bit better.

I've only been able to get to GE to ride the Comet once, with the highest of expectations. Given that, I was a little disappointed; it is a superb coaster to be sure, but it didn't knock my socks off, a la Rampage or the Phoenix. However I have heard from several sources that this coaster has MANY personalities, giving totally different rides from one day to the next, even (as stated above) over the course of the same day. We tried it in both the front and back - good air in both, but we preferred the front.
The Comet is awesome in its own way. It's not a wooden twister coaster. It's a just a typical out & back & out & back again!
The thing that sets it apart from other coasters is that it's very very smooth, gives you some nice air-time on the little bunny hope throughout the ride, and is a lot of fun. There isn't a moment where you think "man, they gotta improve this part, because it just ruins it".
I'd say the best part to ride is either in the complete front/front (so you get the best view) or the back/back where you get the most speed over the bunny hopes.
Hey I have a question for anyone who went on it at Crystal Beach, was it better then or now? I went on the Comet at Crystal Beach when I was younger and vaguely remember it. I remember getting a forward ride and a backward ride. That is about it. I haven't been on it since its move to Great Escape.
