Great Escape News/Notes

just got back from Great Escape again. in all it was a great day. John Collins was on hand helping with security this morning, and then was wondering the park throughout the day. Talked with him for a minute, then was on my way. (i tried to find out about future rides, but he couldnt really say much)

The Steamin' Deamon has finally re-opened. It looks great with its new paint job (blue supports, yellow/orange track), and the ride is so smooth now.

the Boomerang was running great today. its alot smoother then last year, and for once it didnt break down while i was there!

The Comet/Alpine Bobsled were running great and the ride ops did a great job of moving people along.

Longest wait of the day was for the Nightmare...40 mins.

Surprisingly the new TurboBungee upcharge attraction is a huge hit with the little ones. All day there was a very large line.

Aside from very smooth, John.... how is the loading procedure? Did they fix it at all, or learn to master it? Last time I was there, it took 10 minutes just to load & lock (or so it felt).

How was the crowd there when you went? Were there actually people this time?

Was Rainbow open yet, or is that STILL being assembled?

Was there any ride/attraction not open yet?

....Summer is only a short 91 days long. How much of that time are you going to use at the amusement parks??

the loading procedure for steamin' deamon seemed to be improved. I was right there the second they took the 'This Ride is Closed' sign off the gates, so I got front car first seat the first ride on it. Once everyone got through the gate and into a seat they were off checking the restraints and then we were off for the first time! Second time was just as fast...maybe 2 - 3 mins or so. :)

There was a VERY large crowd yesturday. More then I had expected (or for that matter seen at the park in along time). The Season Pass line was packed yesturday, and even when I left the park at closing there was still a Season Pass line. It was out to the main parking lot almost all day.

A few rides were closed throughout the day but then opened. The Steamin' Deamon was closed almost all day and actually opened only about an hour before the park closed. All closed rides opened though throughout the day with the exception of the Rainbow which looks like it hasnt been touched since last weekend.

Oh yea...the bride near the Boomerang/Storytown train was closed all day, so you had to walk the long way around. Looks like there getting ready to eithier put up a new bridge or fix the old one, as the wood from the bridge was removed in many places.

Ill bring my digital camera next time to get some pics from other parts of the park. I would have done it yesturday but I forgot to charge my battery for the camera. :( I wish I brought it to because yesturday was such a great day to take pictures.
