Great Escape closure angers customers

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

Fun-seekers hoping to have one last fling Saturday at The Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom instead had to turn around and go home, when, upon arrival, they found the park closed for the day. Saturday was a special giveaway day at the Great Escape, with every season ticket holder allowed to bring a friend at no cost. Visitors were told the park was closed because of an expectation of inclement weather.

I traveled to New England and found SFNE to be closed upon arrival at the park on that Saturday....from Columbus, OH. On top of SFNE, Canobie Lake, Lake Compounce, Quassy, Great Escape, and several others were also closed on this day. We hung around for the day and still got to go on Sunday, but there were several people extremely disappointed that the park was closed on Saturday. I'm not sure what the conditions were for TGE, but they told us SFNE was too flooded to open the park.

Sounds like a GM wanted to get home to watch a football game.

Sorry folks, park's closed. The moose out front should have told you.

Certain victory.

Ahah! ^^

I live about an hour from the park and about this time last year, the same thing happened to me. The weather was not half bad at all, and I'm not sure why they were closed. And cdrpointcrazy, I really doubt all those parks were closed, but ok...

Anyway, when this happened last year, the park was forgiving when I sent a letter to their headquarters. They gave me four free tickets to that season, which ended in about 2 more weeks. Nice, i guess.

The weather was horrible last weekend in my area(South Central PA.) Originally we were going to go to Six Flags Great Adventure on Saturday. With the weather Friday, and the bad impending weather report for Saturday we decided to cancel.

We were then going to go to Hersheypark for their last regular operating day of the year, and when we woke up Saturday we decided that it wouldn't even be worth the 20 minute drive. We just didn't feel like getting soaked, and not being able to ride the coasters that we wanted to ride.

Hey, At least they are calling for nice weather for Phoenix Phall Phunfest this weekend. Should be a fun time for all. ;)
