Great Escape 2002...Alpine Bobsled no more?!?

I was just looking at the Great Escape website to see if any news about the park for the '02 season was announced at: http://www.sixflags.com/parks/greatescape/home.asp and while looking at the main page I noted the poll at the bottom that said:
What is your Favorite Thrill Ride at The Great Escape:
 Nightmare at Crack Axle Canyon
 The Comet
 Boomerang
 Steamin Demon

It might mean nothing, but since The Alpine Bobsled isnt listed there, and there was a rumor of the Alpine Bobsled being removed and a new ride taking it place I thought that was alittle strange.

any thoughts? and has anyone heard any news as to what Great Escape will be getting for the '02 season? Ive heard so many rumors going around that Im not sure if any are right.

It's probably nothing. All of the Six Flags pages that have a poll don't list every coaster they have (why? who knows). By the way, where was this ride when it was located at Great Adventure?

Until you get a parking space with your own name on it, you're still part of the GP.

SFWoA didn't list Big Dipper but that doesn't mean it's coming down. I think they list only what they feel are the most popular rides by the amount of riders that the ride has in a season.

That means absolutely nothing.  SFMM's website posted X on their poll before it opened...and SFOG posted Viper on their poll after it had been taken down.  Each park has exactly four choices, so the fact that Alpine Bobsled is not there means nothing

Just like everybody said... it means absolutely nothing, and it's absolutely no reason to panic.

One reason being... all the other polls on all the other Six Flags sites list only 4 coasters as well... usually the 4 most "thrilling" coasters. Alpine Bobsled is the least "thrilling" in their opinion, so opted to go for the indoor one instead.

Anyway, it means nothing, so you don't need to get your pants in a bunch. I would have voted different on other Six Flags sites given the limited, yet very flawed, polls they got there to vote.

This ride used to be where Scream Machine is now.
I hope it's still there. That ride is an old favorite of mine from Great Adventure. I'm planning on moving to that area soon and I would love to ride it again.

Isn't that ride exactly like La Vibora at SFOT. If so, you can have it! The brakes are hard and the ride is slow. However, it is fun but I would ditch it for a spinning wild mouse.

Bobsleds ROCK!  I love the "tracklessness".  BTW, bigkirby, BD is a fantastic woodie...those "golden-age" coasters should NEVER leave!

Yup! I love the suprise twist in the track after the turnaround. Scared the crap out of me my first ride. It will stay forever unless they try to speed it up ;)

That means nothing considering that it is still under the rides section. Even though I still believe it will be removed once the 2002 ride announcement becomes publicly known.

I know it probably means nothing, but earlier in the year there was a similar poll...listed all 5 of the coasters. now with all the very strong rumors going around that the bobsled has seen its last year at the park i just thought it was somewhat interesting that it was the one left off the poll, since most other parks that have a boomerang opted to leave it off their poll and put a different ride down in its place. also the fact that its still under the rides section means nothing considering how the sites are only updated very few times a year, and when they are its usually under the park news/press releases section or the main page itself.

Yea but most parks that have boomerangs dont have it a their best ride besides comet.  I myself hope the bobsled goes. It hurt my knees during the break run.

They just did some repainting this past year (or was it the 2000 season)... so as to add a little more to the theming of the ride.

It would appear as to make little sense, unless it's to make room for a replacement coaster. Even so, I rather see the Boomerang taken out and replaced instead!

They did repaint it and added soundproofing to it in 2000. I don't know how well the soundproofing worked. The first time I heard it I thought we were going to be getting a thunderstorm. The one employee I talked to said it helped alot.

Anyway, with all that work done to it two years ago I doubt it would go anywhere. You never know since Six Flags likes to move coasters. Just as long as the Comet stays put.
