Great Escape 2002 Small Website Update

I was just browsing the GE website again looking for news on new attractions for the upcoming season. Only found 1 new thing, although the site does seem to be getting ready for more content to be added. (All past Press Releases have been removed except for the one on the SkyCoaster)

For the 2002 season Great Escape will once again be adding a new show entitled "Grand Illusion" Below is what the site says:

Grand Illusion Show May 25th - September 2nd
New for 2002! Mesmerizing magicians will test your mind's eye with their amazing feats. Watch closely as these exciting acts take you into a realm of imaginary twists, turns and disappearing acts. You won't want to miss this exciting new addition to our blockbuster show line up!

I really hope an official annoucement comes from the park soon. If 2002 is another year without any new rides, and only this new show at GE im going to be really disapointed since are last new coaster was The Nightmare :(

We need to face it. SF does not care about some of it's parks that are already branded, let alone the "SF Properties". Plus now they are involved with La Ronde, Enchanted Villiage, and trying to salvage their attendence at WoA.

Well with Great Escape, it wasnt really SF that didnt care about the park. The park had to wait for an Enviromental Impact Statement to be completed. The park has actually wanted to expand but wasnt allowed to. Now the park has been given the ok to expand. The plans known about for the '02 season include a new entrance plaza, pedestrian bridge over rte 9, and a few other improvements. New rides are also supposed to be added, but it seems like that may not happen again this year as nothing has been announced and from what I hear it doesnt look like much is really going on within the park. But then again the area where construction could be occuring wouldnt really be visible from outside the park gates.

If you check their web site, they DID make a little progress... for good or for bad.

First of all, when you click on the "park news" item, all you get is the full story for the Sky Coaster instead of the gazillion stories that were essentially useless (they just had nothing else to talk about)..... but ALSO, they stopped taking votes for the on-line poll.

I guess that's some progress! If you check the SFDL site on Six Flags official home page, it is also updated with more information... but again, it's useless and gives absoltely nothing as to what is new for '02.

Why can't Six Flags get with the program? It's January already. If Great Escape is going to get a coaster, they better announce it VERY soon because if I'm not mistaken, X-Flight was announced about this time... and if it took them that long to announce & put it together & have it open by memorial day..... I can only imagine how long it'll take for them to throw up (not vomit) a coaster at Great Escape if announced late.

...Wondering what the 2002 season holds for all parks...

well im hoping construction already started if there is a new coaster for the '02 season. im not sure how much snow Lake George recieved from last night yet, but here in Latham (about 30 mins south of Lake George) we got nailed with snow. So far 1 foot and its still snowing

I just checked out the Darien Lake & GE sites again, looks like GE updated their main page now with just the addition of the Illusions show, while darien lakes page now says:
