Great Escape / Fireworks?
anyone heard anything about the park lately? apparently there having a fireworks display on November 7th. However, the park's last day open for the '03 season is the 2nd. Anyone have any clue as to whats going on? Possible announcement for next season?

i just dont see why they'd have a fireworks display for the first time ever, and days after the park closes for the season. there must be some announcement that will have the fireworks follow.

Well, back in 1999... although there was nothing really "special" planned... it made quite an announcement when Darien Lake announced Superman: Ride of Steel & the conversion to the Six Flags branding. It was right around the same time in early November, and there were a few flairs going off (not literally).
I have the feeling that something is definately planned, and the media is involved in this somehow.
They'll probalby revel some big plans for their 50th celebration and afterwards, kick it off with a little fireworks display.
Mind you, it's probably not going to be some elaborate 4th of July fireworks... the Queensbury town board never mentioned how large... just the approval for November 7th Fireworks... so it could be just some simple bottle rockets, or a decent display to introduce a whole new Great Escape look.
if its sparklers and bottle rockets i will be on the ground laughing. im still waiting on my friend at the TU to get back to me, we will know monday if they know anything about this though :)

Well from what I saw on channel 8 (which broadcasts the town board meetings) they want to do some test shots for next years Americade event to test the sight lines. They want to see where to shoot the show from so everyone in the park gets a good show. The test shots will be at 5 in the afternoon.
