Great book series: Above (city)

I've mentioned these books in posts before, but I just wanted to repeat myself and say that this series of coffeetable books by Robert Cameron is great.

Some of the titles are "Above Chicago," "Above Los Angeles," "Above Las Vegas," "Above New York," etc., and some have multiple editions. Not only are they filled with stunning aerial photography of those cities, but each book also has at least one photo of the local amusement park, many times showing defunct coasters, etc.

"Above Chicago" shows SFGAm with Shockwave and Iron Wolf, but no B:TR yet... just a Schwarzkopf shuttle. There's a bobsled ride as well.

"Above New York" shows the CI Cyclone, but there's another wooden coaster that looks almost the same (sorry, don't know the name), as well as a Schwarzkopf portable.

"Above L.A." (older edition) shows Busch Gardens in Van Nuys with a log flume and KBF with its old Arrow corkscrew. The newer edition shows SFMM with Viper under construction.

"Above Las Vegas" has quite a few shots of the Stratosphere rides, and shows NYNY and the Manhattan Express under construction.

I was able to get 7 of these books from the local library. They're worth checking out.

A day is a drop of water in the ocean of eternity. A week is seven drops.

Den, the other coaster was probably the legendary Thunderbolt. I'll have to go see if I can find those books. I thought I was the last person who still read books from the library :)
You're not alone... I get books, magazines, DVDs, maps, whatever from the library. You can reserve online and drop off at any branch in the city... easier than the video store and obviously cheaper!

Oh, yeah. "Above Chicago" is one of my favorite library books. That picture of Great America is simply sweet. No other word for it. I'm seconding Den's recomendation for these!

(And the pictures of the City itself are pretty cool, too!!)

I hear America screaming...

Thast bobsled coaster at great america was Rolling Thunder. Just incase you didn't know. It is where viper and the Bull are now.

The Shuttle was Tidal Wave.
