Following a delay that lasted almost the entire season, Six Flags Great America finally opened Deja Vu, a giant inverted boomerang built by the now-bankrupt Vekoma.
Read the reactions from the media event in The Daily Herald.

I was lucky enought to be part of the media day event on Oct 4th. I don't remember how cold it was in the morining, but I know that during the day, the temperature did not get above 60.
The ride is a lot of fun, and hopefully (if weather was the reason it was down yesterday) it will get warm enough for the GP to be able to ride this year.
If weather is a problem, then my guess is it will be down today as well, since right now it is only 44 degrees outside (at 7AM CST it was only 26).
If I recall, Z-Force had problems with the weather as well (thats why it left the park back in 1987). What I got told was that when they built the ride, the corner out of the station into the lift was to tight, and in the fall, when the steel contracted, it became TOO tight of a cornor, and the train would not go around it.
So, hopefully things will work out and it will open soon.
As far as V2 goes, I keep hearing different things on this one. At one point I was told that V2 blew a transformer back on September 21st. But, I don't know if that is true or not.

Don't Fight It: Ride it! Raging Bull
Delay-ja-vu IS open!
It opened on Sunday 10/7, and I got to ride it on Monday 10/8. Man, what a ride!!! I got in the front on the left wing seat. I think my favorite part was actually the initial pull backwards before launch. The anticipation whilst hanging there is just great.
To answer the earlier questions, the story I heard is that, yes, it doesn't like the cold. I was in line with a guy who claimed to be a ride mechanic, and he said that it got stuck a bunch of times when the weather was cool. Sure enough, just before the started testing it to open, I saw guys crawling all over the train with kerosene torpedo heaters.
I would highly recommend getting on this ride. Definitely better that SUE/V2!

I traveled from the south suburbs of Chicago 10/28/01 to visit SFGAm's Fright fest and to ride DejaVu for the first time. It broke down while I was riding and we must've been sitting at the bottom of the seccond towe partially at an incline for ten minites. They never explained what happened or appologized for the inconvenience. But to look on the bright side, we got the last ride on DejaVu for the season! =)
