Posted | Contributed by Goliath Freak

Six Flags Great Adventure unveiled plans to dramatically transform the world's first floorless, looping coaster, Medusa. The Medusa redesign will deliver a multi-sensory ride experience with all-new thematics and innovative, state-of-the-art visual, audio and sensory effects launching it into another dimension of thrills and excitement.

Are they going to change the name as well? A Gorgon in the Wild West section is a horrid juxtaposition of themes.

One last thought...

Is this the only "new" addition to Great Adventure that is scheduled for next year? I heard (when I asked a "suit-wearing manager" at Hurricane Harbor) that the water park is going to get an upgrade for 2009.

Is there any chance the cut off rides (Splash Effect, Music Express, Bumper Cars) will be back?

Any other thoughts?

Here's To Shorter Lines & Longer Trip Reports!

Movietown Water Effect was removed from the park but I think the boats are still there. They really need to open back up Houidini and Music Express and the Bumper Cars. Although I didn't find lines to be bad this year thanks to multiple trains running all season (though to be fair, I know to avoid peak times so you will never see me at the park on a Saturday or Sunday in October when lines are long), they really need to add more rides to the park so I hope this isn't the only addition.

The park is really lacking in family rides and just in the past 2 seasons, almost all rides removed or SBNO are family rides-the rides mentioned above, and the swings, 2nd log flume and then the thrill rides Chiller and Freefall

The fundamental problem here is that this isn't themeing at all, it's just adding special effects and music to a coaster. The Dark Knight coaster has themeing, so does Space Mountain and Everest. X2 and all these coasters like it don't...

They've got posters in the park saying 'last chance to ride Medusa in it's current form' or something to that effect. Too bad they did put up similar ones over the past few years warning people about last chance of riding the dozens of rides and attractions they've been obliterating with no fanfare, including that whole Octoberfest section of the park. That park already had too many dead end midways.
