Great Adventure 411

I just arrived in New York City for the www.cmj.com/marathon which i'm really stoked for, although I figured while I'm here there is no way I can miss going to Great Adventure to get on a number of great rides!

I was wondering if anybody knew the status on Kingda Ka and Nitro which are the rides I'm most excited about finally getting a chance to ride. I know that there are also more specific forums that talk about Great Adventure so maybe you can also direct me to those.

Another thing...are there any promotions out there right now for tickets? Thanks.

Barring a catastrophe, Nitro will be definitely running. As for Ka, call the park before you go in. For promos, check the Coke cans in stores in the area. As always, getting there early always helps.

You won't see me coming...

Ntro, fully operational, solid ride, good capacity, lots of FLOATER....just one ejector hill woulda made a HUGE difference for me personally though, LOL...

Ka has been up and down, but lately seems "fairly consistent"...taking into account all the considerables... ;)

As far as discounts, ask at "The Source"... :)

There are some real sleepers in the selection there. The Chiller, Medusa, Batman and ,if you don't mind lines, Superman Ultimate Flight all are worth a lap. But you are right that the top rides are Nitro and Kingda Ka. Be prepared for a 2 hour plus wait for Kingda Ka on most weekends. Superman can also get a huge line. Best recomendation is to get there early and stay late. If you are there at night get a lap on Nitro as late as you can.

how come nobody but me sees medusa as SFGADV's standout coaster?

Chiller was fun but a long wait with only one side running and Nitro did nothing for me. Id rather ride rotting lumber which I found the parking lot side to be rather good.

Right there with you - well, until Rolling Thunder, at least. :)

Medusa is easily my favorite coaster at the park. Nitro does little for me. Chiller is cool and all, but not worth the waits you run into.

I love Medusa and always get laps on it when at the park nothing like the view of the safari right from the top of the lift. On concert nights you can listen to the show and ride at the same time :)

1) Nitro
2) Kingda Ka
3) Medusa
4) Chiller (Q-bot is my friend)
5) Superman (Q-Bot is not friendly here)
6) Batman

Throw the rest in a blender and let them fall where they may.

Anyone got a flame thrower? That's all Rolling Thunder deserves.

Yeah, dragonoffrost, would be nice to ride Medusa while Bruce belts out "Land of Hope and Dreams". I still say the Freehold homeboyie would play the park for a big discount, maybe even for free if there was a benefit tie in. The peeps at GA were talking about "booking agents" and other stuff, basically "its not my department", but damn, if I was working there I know I could make it happen.

Wow, Chuckie says, "watch the tram car please", I finally heard that sick little bastard on the Wildwood boardwalk, almost made me homocidal.

Here is my suggestion. Ride Kingda Ka first then quickly go to Superman. Those are the two worst waits in the park. For Superman it has more to do how slow the line moves than it does the length of the line. Kingda Ka well everyone heads there first so the lines are long there all day long.

1. Kingda Ka

2. Nitro

3. Superman

4. Chiller

5. Batman the ride

6. Medusa

Chilla is da BOMB!

Yes, THE line (singular, since only one side operates) is horrendous, but the RIDE....it's pure bliss!

Just to let you know the whole section of park where RT is, Is closed for the rest of the season as construction has started for the new woodie. Parts are already in the parking lot. Every thing else is up and running.
Nick, speaking of CMJ, if you read this in time you might be able to catch the Theory Eight label showcase tonight. I highly recommend all these bands playing:

Don't skip out on Coney or Rye Playland if possible!

I survived a Japanese typhoon and the Togo flat ride of death!!!!!!
