Great Adventure - June 8th - Did they hire Magic Mountain's Maintenance Staff?

Associated parks:
None

You must just be assuming I'm complaining to complain then. Most of my comments were about us having a good time. The things I did complain about didn't really impact our day that much.

I just don't think a ride breaking down is an act of God, that's all. Besides, I also noted people we talked to around the park (including ride ops) said rides were breaking down all day. So, even though we only experienced Chiller (for instance) go down once during the day, I'm pretty sure it went down multiple times during the day. So, I doubt we were the only ones in the park that experienced a ton of downtime.

I know rides go down. I also know to not be bummed if one ride is down for the day during your visit to a park - like Kingda Ka. But, trip reports are meant to recount someone's experience at a park. This was my experience.

I'm happy so many people insist on the front row of inverts - makes the wait times less for the back row...where the POWER is...

Best quote EVER!!!. LOL

I feel the SAME way.

Here is an example of how unpredictable Six Flags parks are. I was at SFGAv the next Thursday and Friday and had a great experience. The Batman side of the Chiller and the Runaway Mine Train were closed both days but aside from Batman The Ride's 15 minute delay due to rider error (via the rumor mill) I saw nothing else fail to operate smoothly. I was around Kingda Ka alot and saw no rollbacks and only one 5 minute launch delay. Employees around the park went out of their way to improve the atmosphere and aside from a European food stand worker who spoke and heard broken English, I was impressed with the staff by any standard, and amazed after my Six Flags Great America experiences.

Another poster mentioned how great Six Flags Great America was, but in my 8 visits to that park since the 80s, I have never seen every ride operate on the same day and have always noticed management and layout problems, especially with crowd management. New Jersey's park disperses traffic much better into the parking lot and has far more turnstiles available to get into the park. SF New Jersey also has 4 rides better than my favorite one in Gurnee, although I cannot judge Deja Vu because it was closed all day or Viper because I spent all day in line for a few other rides the only time I visited since those rides opened.

I guess it all depends when you visit a park as to what type of experience you have. Luckily my big investment to get to New Jersey was a huge success and on my one day trips up to Gurnee I have not had as much to lose.
