Great Adventure

Does anyone know where I can get great adventure discount tickets? What rides are worth riding and ones worth skipping? This is my first trip there.

Usually, in the beginning of the season, places like Burger King and Dunkin Donuts have discount coupons for Six Flags Great Adventure. Later in the season, you can find discounts on select Coca-Cola cans.

If you have limited time, be sure to hit Nitro, Medusa, Batman: the Ride, Batman & Robin: the Chiller, and the Great American Scream Machine.

If you have a whole day, try and ride everything you see. Why not, right? If you can, sit in the back row of Skull Mountain for ejector airtime, Medusa's front row for an amazing ride, and just get yourself on Nitro, which looks pretty good.

Most of all, enjoy the day!

Avoid this place like the plague on weekends, because it's crowded enough on weekdays. As for which rides to ride, it would probably be easier to tell you what to avoid if you're in a timecrunch. Don't ride Viper because it hurts and has too long of lines. Don't ride the Robin side on The Chiller for the same reasons. Strike Skull Mountain also as it's pretty unimpressive. Make sure to hit some of the unique flat rides such as Houdini's Great Escape, Jumping Jack Flash, and Evolution (if it's open this year). *** This post was edited by Intamin Fan on 3/26/2001. ***
I think you can ge discount tickets at Pathmark too!!
If you score discount tickets, this should be your game plan: Get there at least a half hour before the park opens and get a map of the layout of the park. Memorize it, then disgard it. When they drop the rope to let you in head directly to Nitro...if you wait, the lines will be rediculous. Try for one extra Nitro ride, then head to the other end of the park for Medusa...wait for the front row as it's the best, then try Medusa again in the back row, then head for Great American Scream Machine, then Batman & Robin: The Chiller, then Batman: The Ride. After you accomplish the best, then you can bother with the rest (for which lines are short). Have a blast!
