Katanga is no longer operating. Their web page, http://community-2.webtv.net/parkguide/Katanga/ has not been updated. They have left no contact info at Congo River, or on the ride itself.
Now, for what I was able to gather from talking to the woman running the miniature golf course - accuracy NOT guaranteed, LOL. A husband/wife team were owner/managers of Katanga, and have moved back to TN (my *guess-timate* is Pigeon Forge area). Since there's no contact info, I don't know what they're asking, but apparently they are *trying* to lease or sell the ride...just not too hard...;)
My feeling is that they really suffered from lack of ridership, and that $20 was just plain "too steep" to get people to try it the first time. They always featured the $5 off coupon on the website, but c'mon, that ain't "publicity", LOL. I won't go into my typical upcharge rant here, but people have to RIDE the thing before they can want to ride it again...and people riding is what makes other people want to ride...;)
When I get some further info on this, I'll post back again....Jill and I thought it would be a PERFECT fit for OldTown....or the backyard...:)
