Good stuff coming back: THANK YOU MEMBERS!

I wanted to drop in a short note congratulating many of our members on conducting themselves very well on the forums this evening. The noise and "dumb" stuff has been minimal even in light of the 200+ people surfing at any given time.

The forums here have been going through a noise phase lately, which I guess has something to do with the ridiculous number of people visiting every day. A serious downside to popularity, I guess. I'm sure a lot of members have fled to other forums in light of the noise, but I congratulate those of you who stick to quality, intelligent and enthusiastic discussion. Especially pleasing is the discussion about regulation, amusement business, technical aspects of the rides and the often subjective analysis of our favorite rides.

How can you keep it real? Simply ask yourself one thing before you hit that submit button: "Does my post advance the discussion or add value to the topic?" Naturally if you're making a "me too" or "cool!" post, the answer is no.

Remember, you make this site what it is. For those who are solid contributors, thank you. I hope you'll continue to be the cornerstones of our community!

Welcome. I think you pretty much scared everyone with the limited postings. No one wants that. So since now there is a penalty, people maybe thinking about what they do

It was a nice thing to come here tonight and see no closed posts (aside from the grass one). It'd be great if we could keep this up. :)

Thank you Jeff.

It's possible, but it's up to the members. I slapped a few quotas on some, er, "active" members and I know that helps. Trust me, if you think that closed threads are bad, imagine what gets deleted entirely!

Again, it's really up to the members to ask that question every time...

Does my post advance the discussion or add value to the topic?

Just curious, how much is the quota? Is it for number of posts started or number of replies?

Jeff, I come here for that exact reason.  I don't want to subject myself to other sites, and the amazing ramblings that occur daily.  Thanks for putting the brakes on a bit, and keeping things in check.

Come on, Jeff. No yelling, we can hear you up there.

Actually, I'm glad to hear that we're behaving like good little coaster angels;)

Good ol' Jeff...

Just enough trim brakes to keep the forum from having stacked trains.   Oh,

Thanks for being the lapbar when all other websites have OTSRs

:o)
