Good looks/no ride

Where's the inversion for the supermarket coaster? ;)

IJ:ST at KI looks cool, but upon riding, was rather lame.

The inversion for the supermarket coaster? It is at the checkout of course. Duh. ;)

At the risk of sounding like a buffoon, I will say that the Vekoma Whirlwind is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful layouts around. It looks great from any angle (blah blah, yadda yadda) and an aerial view shows the true beauty and practicality of the design: perfect symmetry in a super-compact figure-8 layout.

That aside, the ride experience on a Whirlwind is about as thrilling as a standard Arrow corkscrew, give or take. But, that shouldn't be surprising...it may look attractive, but it certainly doesn't look exciting. *** Edited 12/5/2006 12:13:06 AM UTC by Vater***

My nominee for most beautiful coaster to look at, but horrible to ride would have to be;

BANDIT!

I had this coaster as one of my must do coasters in life ever since I first saw pictures of it, way back in the 80's. Well, after one ride, I was turned off by the complete uncomfortable OTSR's that wrecked havoc on my neck throughout the entire ride.

Definitely the most upsetting ride of last years trip.

Biggest surprise, and another beautiful coaster to look at was Thunder Dolphin. As someone stated earlier, there was alot of negative feedback for this coaster, and all of it couldn't be further from the truth. This ride was great, and I wish we had more time to ride it.

I've been skimming this thread more than reading.. has anyone mentioned Hercules @ Dorney Park? I know it's no longer standing, but I've felt that it was designed more for looks (and looked beautiful) but the ride itself was very rough, especially in it's later years.

Opening up a new can of worms...

Most people think the Morgan Hypers fit this catagory.

And Yes, I have yet to find a Summers and Dinn enjoyable.

Thanks for another great season, VF!

While I do think that they are over-hyped (no pun intended.. really!) personally, they are well-liked by the masses. Maybe it's just because of my proximity to Dorney and having ridden it literally hundreds of times every year since it was built in 1997 that has lost some of its excitement. Granted, it's still a good ride and I still enjoy it... but not so much as June 1997 :)
