Well, this is about the time that the Golden Tickets come out.
Does anyone know when they come out, and where they will be announced this year?
The new Waldameer speculation states that Nelson and family will be in Orlando to be "accepting an amusement industry award." Maybe talking about Best New Ride for Ravine Flyer II...?
Anyone have any other details?

I searched the AT website all over and couldn't find that information... and still can't. :)
Thanks though!

It wasn't easy to find. I happened to open the PDF cover of the current issue, and it's at the bottom of the page. They only put a few pages into PDF so you can see a sample. If you go to AT Sections under Current Issue (left hand), it's on the bottom of the cover01 page.
Ah, good find. I forgot about checking the issue PDFs.

Me either! I love how the only thing, really, Amusement Today is known for and their website has know advertisement about the new issue of them at all. If they do, it is know where to be found.
Who are the nominees?
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
Nominees for what category? Every park / coaster is up for awards...
Do you mean who are the nominators/voters? If so:
The Golden Ticket Awards are presented to the “Best of the Best” in the amusement industry calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today. Surveys were sent to a database of experienced and well-traveled amusement park fans around the world – in balanced geographical regions – asking them to rate the “bests” in 24 categories such as “amusement parks,” “roller coasters,” “shows,” “friendliest staff” and “water rides.”

I wonder if Holiday World will win anything this year... :)
(Here's to hoping that Voyage is still #1!)

They won something, since they were invited to the ceremony.
Here is hoping that Ravine Flyer II can steal both Best New Ride and maybe #1 Woodie this year. ;)
We all know that Voyage will still take it... Ravine Flyer II will pull a Top 5 though, hopefully.

Best New Ride seems likely. How high it will get on the wood list is tough to say though. It's all dependent on how many people who were invited to vote, actually got to ride it. I feel it's safe to assume that most people don't vote for things if they hadn't yet ridden them.

Ravine Flyer II made Best New Ride of 2008, but didn't make the top 10 wood. Voyage still #1 wood.
Most all other awards are a repeat of last year.
The surprises for me were that Fahrenheit didn't even get into the top 5 for Best New Ride of '08. Also Behemoth did not even rank in the top 25 steel coasters, while Goliath at SFoG was 7th...

Heh, its because their awards are all based on number of votes and... dollar amounts spent?
Paula is posting on Twitter the results that include them.
Well, I'm really disappointed at the Top 10, in both divisions, but everything else I tend to agree with.
Good to see that Ravine Flyer II won "Best New Ride", and that Paul Nelson won "Person of the Year" for his efforts to improve Waldameer and with Ravine Flyer's determination.
