Golden Ticket Awards 2012

Not surprised this has not been posted... the 2012 GTA's are out.

Marketing awards that pander to ACErs and we all know that they don't matter... Let the whining begin!

Skyrush made the best new ride category? What are people smokin'? Worst. New. Ride. Of. 2012.

It's great to see that after over two decades, Magnum is still in the top ten.

That's all I've got to say about it except that I can't take these "awards" seriously at all.

Travis, I can only find the list of winners, not the nominees/runners-up. What am I doing wrong?

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Does anybody know where the PDF is? That usually includes the list of the top 50 coasters.

Cedar Point will always be The Roller Coaster Capital of the World, regardless of the number of coasters they have.

I was pretty disappointed in Skyrush. I'll make a trip report as soon as I have the time to really sit and compose it.

Four B&M hypers rated above oG's Goliath. And it's not April.

Yawn. I wonder why they don't get called out by anyone else for the ethically questionable practice of accepting ads from the winners, most of whom would never advertise otherwise.

I see the event was in Pigeon Forge, and Dollywood won a lot of awards. This makes it just like the Olympics, where the host country wins a lot of medals. Did Dolly jump out of a helicopter too?

I'd like to see that.

Krause, I love that you complain about SkyRush, probably for its thigh destroying lapbars, yet you praise Magnum in the same sentence. Magnum also has thigh destroying lapbars. :)

LostKause's avatar

I disagree with you about magnum's lap bars.

Magnum bruises my thighs...SkyRush nearly snapped them.

Yeah, I can't say the two can be compared. Sky Rush is in a thigh crushing class all by itself.

Skyrush is my #1 steel, so I'm happy it was included.

I only see 3 but the point stands.

This is more likely due to the fact that the ACE convention was held at Dollywood this year. And, it was one of the better attended Con's in a while.
