Going to SF: St. Louis, whats the best ride over t

we where there last summer. Try to get a night ride on The Boss, its much beter at night.
Xcalibur is a definite hit - it's so disorienting. I also agree that namtaB, ezeerF, Boss and Scooby Doo are all must rides. (for those who don't get "the joke" of writing the names backwards - it's because they are mirror images of the originals).

Wow!! Great picture SFZIP! This looks like a real crazy ride... what does it do, the ring of seats spin around while the cars spin up-side down then the whole thing go around..... geez. Will someone please explain to me what it does?
They almost always run Mr. Freeze with one train, never in the 26 times I have been to SFSTL (I live like 15 min away) have I seen the MF crew work it with 2 trains.

Are you sure that they don't ever run it with 2 trains (sarcasm, what sarcasm).... and what was the Millenium Force crew doing there working Mr Freeze anyways? Or does that "MF crew" stand for something else? Where can I get some of what your smokin' anyways....?

How can Mr. Freeze have two trains on the track with the way that its a shuttle. How?
My point exactly Ananconda.... I guess I was beating around the bush in saying that.... lol
I can't remeber, but I think there is a three tracks. one that holds one train on the left, one that holds another train on the right, and then the course is in the middle. Then one at a time, they bring the train in the middle and let it go through the course. like in these pictures.

Bob, I would tell (I know I didn't before, which made me look dumb) them why is it probally or is against the TOS instead of posting what you posted above.

As for favorite ride at SFStL. If I wanted to find out about this I would use the Fourm Search Function on the site, then insdie the quarry box I would enter "SFStL" (without the quotes of course) and selecting in the in fourm menu "General: Trip Reports", then you should be able to get lots of trip reports and find out what is the best ride at SFStL. I don't visit SFStL very often so I wouldn't know what would be considered the best ride there, but I do like the Screaming Eagle and Mr. Freeze alot.

I've only been to SFStL once since Freeze was installed and I caught them operating with two trains. I'll try and explain how it works, but I'll likely fail miserably ;).

Okay, try and picture this. There is the actual ride track with the launch/brakes in the tunnel. That track then "dead ends" into nothing, just open air. Now, to either side of this "open air" is a transfer track, that holds one of the trains. The transfer track from one of the sides (say, the right side) slides over and aligns itself with the "dead end" of the tunnel track. This train launches and goes through the circuit.

While this is happening, the other side (the left in this example) is being loaded with passengers. When "right" train returns, its transfer track disengages from the tunnel track and slides back to its original right side position. Once the right track is out of the way, the left track can slide into place for its launch.

A good way to visualize this is to think about the NCAA bracket sheets. You know how when two teams play each other, the winner moves ahead into the empty slot. Consider the two trains as the two teams and the tunnel track as the empty winner's slot.

Hope that made a modicum of sense.

The bracket is a pretty good description. In this picture from RCDB you can see that there are 2 trains: http://rcdb.com/installationgallery281.htm?Picture=6 (it is from SFoT, but same difference.

As for what rides not to miss... hit everything. As said above, you can do the whole park in one day (unless it is *really* busy... or there is always Q-bot :( ) Lines for the flat rides and the "lesser" coasters (Ninja) really drop off near closing time.

ezeerF rM is almost always running two trains here in the last two years. If you come on Wednesday (the slowest day of the week) and are surprised to see just one running, then you need a check-up (from the neck, up).

The Boss, in my opinion, is one of the best night coasters anywhere.

I agree 100%. That doulbe-down first drop in the dark is pure insanity. 'Where did the train go?'
