Going to PKD and PC, any tips/info?

My family and I are going to King's Dominion on Tues/Weds and Carowinds on Thurs/Fri and I was wondering how the wait times are usually during those week days? Also, if there is any other important info that would be helpful, by all means tell me. I can't wait to go to these great parks, but hopefully the waits won't be too long. Thanks.

Ride Coasters Always!

When you go to Carowinds, bring sunscreen, because the Television Stations out of Charlotte are saying the Ozone is going to be VERY high.

Same thing for Kings Dominion. For Hypersonic, if the line is out of the normal line area, don't worry, the line is probably only 30 minutes anyways. Volcano usually has the longest line, only around 45 minutes when I was there last week, so try and hit that at 10:30, which is when the "rest of the park" opens. International Street opens at 10 AM.

Have a great trip!

Don't worry about lines at Carowinds other than Super Saturator and water rides...

At Carowinds, the entire park opens at 10:00 am. Generally they open the parking at about 9:30 and then let people in the gates, but the only rides that are open before 10 are Top Gun and Richochet. Those are open for season passholder early ride time - so if you have a Paramount pass you can ride either one then.

The main ride to hit early if you want to avoid a long wait would be Flying Super Saturator. The water slides in WaterWorks and any of the other water rides will also get longer lines as the day progresses. Also Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion would be good to hit early.

On a weekday you shouldn't have a problem with much of anything else - the water rides will be the main things to get big crowds if it's hot - most other stuff will be short lines or even walkons.

Top Gun is the most popular ride there, but it moves people through pretty well. I'd get one front seat ride on it, and then spend your time in the back row - it's more intense back there and usually on a weekday it's a 3-4 train wait, wheras the front is a 10+ train wait almost anytime.

The plan I'd use is go in the South gate - this is the farthest from the parking toll plaza - this puts you right at Top Gun when you enter, and is usually a bit less crowded than the main gate. If you have a Paramount pass, you can get ERT on Top Gun between 9:30 and 10, and it's MUCH easier to get your front seat rides then.

After Top Gun, I'd hit Scooby's Haunted Mansion, then Saturator and any of the water slides in WaterWorks you're interested in. Then I'd hit Drop Zone, Hurler and Richochet - these will be near walk-ons early as the crowd usually hits Top Gun first off.

Then head around to Vortex, and hit Rip Roarin' Rapids and the log flume if you want. Then you can head back towards Top Gun, and hit it some more - then hit 7th Portal, Thunder Road and Frenzoid.

That still leaves Scooby Doo's Ghoster Coaster, the Goldrusher mine train, and Carolina Cyclone - plus all the flat rides. These seldom have a line worth mentioning on a weekday so you can hit them after you've hit everything else. Unless it's unusually busy, you can hit all the main rides by 1pm or earlier.

For food - the pizza, fries and chicken strips are usually fairly decent anywhere in the park. You can find all these in Wings near the Saturator. This has inside air-conditioned seating, AND a refill station for drinks. The best food in the park is at Outer Hanks in the Boardwalk section. They have VERY good burgers, barbecue sandwiches, and fried flounder. Prices are typical for theme park food, so you may want to eat outside the park. You can re-enter with your parking stub as many times as you want - and there are a KFC, Wendy's, and mexican restaraunt right near the entrance road. These tend to be pretty busy though.

Hope that helps!

You're locked and ready to fly!

Actually, believe it or not, but i am moving to Charlotte tomarrow from Buffalo, NY. Isn't that weird? I'm very mixed feelinged right now, but i won't get into anything. Anyway, i had been to PC 3 times this year while visiting to find a house and all of that crap. What days this week will you ppl be there so we can maybe meet up, since i dont have friends there yet? All the times at PC were great- all weekdays. No lines, even got to ride Top Gun 21 times the one day.
