Going To Philly

July 20-27

I plan on going to Dorney Park and maybe SFGADV. Most likely Dorney in thee middle of the week. Any tips?

"All of our parties at CCI were so...sedate," said Dinn this afternoon. "Wine, appetizers, some jazz. But this Stan Checketts guy...wow, those S&S dudes can party their asses off. Out of control."

At Dorney the waterpark will be crowded, and you shouldn't have to wait long to ride any coasters or flats.

I suggest going to SF Gr8Adv. From Philly it isn't very far at all. That is the best Six Flags park that I have been to. A good variety of coasters, and the Gold Q-Bot will cut down the wait.

1) Read the "Travel tips" sticky thread.

2) Go to Hershey and Knoebel's instead. ;)

Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

I wish I could. How far away are they from Philly? I did the distance search thing on rcdb, and DP and SFGADV were closest. :/

The distance search thingy on RCDB is "as the crow flies" as opposed to "how the car drives" :)

Some approximate driving distances (from PHL) :

To SFGAdv: 66 miles
To Dorney: 69 miles
To Knoebels: 137 miles
To Hershey: 103 miles

Took me about 5 minutes. As mentioned already, check the Travel Tips thread for advice on planning your own trips :)

If your going to Dorney and don't have a SP Go to Acme supermarkets they have tickets for $23.50/$12.50 Also SFA is 45 minutes to the south on 95, Wildwood Nj is 88 miles to the south east, Cleminton is a stones throw from the Waltwitman, if you have small children Sesame Place in Langhorne. Ocean city is on the way to Wildwood N.J. and if you drive it right you could hit clemington and the two shore point in a nice circle and head to sfadv depending where you want to stay and sleep. I would do Hershey and Knobles even though I have a SP to Dorney.

not much else I can think of Where ya driving from????

When'd that happen? I thought SFA was always 120 minutes from philly, not 45.

Skip Dorney and go to Hershey instead!

Thanks,
DMC

I concur with others calling for you to go to Hershey.

I'm all about driving fast. Really fast even.

But doing the 130 miles from Philly to SFA in 45 minutes is...well, do the math. :)

Stop and think about that for a second.

If you travel at 108mph you'd go 108 miles in an hour. So how would you cover 130 miles in 45 minutes at that speed?

130 miles in 45 minutes = 173mph

Did I miss the American Autobahn on that Philly to D.C. leg? :)

Nah....you just aren't using the private jet that SOME enthusiasts seem to have. ;)

How ELSE are you gonna go "as the crow flies"? :)

if you go to sfgadv on either the 20th or the 22nd you may see me there, as it will be my first visit to the park (haven't decided which day)
Hey. If you can read my Northeast Trip reports from last week in those parks. Don't skip Dorney it rocks. Six Flags is also very good.
Hmmm, apparently I can't do math correctly. So yea, he drives 170+ mph.
Anyways.. Should I go to Dorney or Hershey?
