Glasses or Contacts ON coasters

That pic *is* cute! Nice purse...are those you're two kids, Den? LOL!

Nevermind the kids, the real question is...is that your purse? ;)
I've worn glasses nearly forever; I put them in a zippable coat pocket if it is cold enough for a windbreaker, and otherwise wear a strap. I'm considering switching to contacts for coasters. My wife thinks this is a Good Thing, but is exasperated that it took coaster riding to get me to consider it.

Hey, I still use that purse! ;)

oh, p.s., I feel better about Dawn thinking I'm cute than I do Moosh. ;) ;)

What "type" of contacts do you all wear? I'm 30 years old and have worn glasses all my life. I have an accute near sighted astigmatism in both eyes. In order to switch to contacts I would have to wear a custom soft toric contact and I've heard these can twist easily and also don't adhear as well as spherical lenses. Any comments along those lines?

Just as dawnmarie313 said earlier, I wear Focus Torics and have minimal to no problem with them on or off coasters. I usually wear wraparound shades with a sport strap when riding coasters though. On occassion if I ride a high speed coaster without my sunglasses on the contact may dislodge (always stays in the eye, I have never lost one on a coaster). On the rare occassion that this happes, by the time I return to the station so does my vision.

I had been wearing glasses up until earlier this year, that is when I had laser surgery on my eyes. Now I do see like a Hawk (Well I fell like I can compared to what my vision was before). I still will need to wear sunglasses for protection of my eyes form the sun and other objects at times but when I do I have a strap that I got for real cheap at Worlds of Fun. The Strap is a verygood investment and it will allow you towear glasses on rides that don't allow them if you don't have them sucured, like Power Tower and Wicked Twister. Last year when I was wearing glasses I nearly lost them on the Beast so I do need to say get a strap and wear it on any coaster or ride you go on.

Dawn and Hardrider, thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to hear.

Actually my main motivation for going with contacts is just general every day use. I have an office job, sit at a computer all day, and often get headaches becuase my glasses slip and don't sit on my face just right and I'm just getting sick of it. At the same time I wouldn't want contacts if they wouldn't work on coasters. But thanks to you guys my doubts have been put to rest.

Of course I'd do the laser surgery if I had the money. :)

just an FYI to you, because you work at a computer all day, contacts can get dried out quickly and you may find yourself reaching for the rewetting drops quite often in the beginning. I work at a computer every day and have worn contacts now since January and it was hard to adjust at first but now I dont know they are there most of the time. As for coasters, I have had no problems on any coasters. In fact I never wore my glasses on coasters and now I tend to wear sunglasses on most coasters just for the eye protection.

The only times my contacts have ever come out when I don't want them to is when playing a video game that requires a lot of focus, i.e. DDR or Tetris.

I wear glasses and I never have to take them off on roller coasters or any other type of rides. I always used to take mine off on Giant Drop but when I went to SFGAm on May 3 I decided to keep them on this time because there were others who still had their glasses on and if they don't fall off on the roller ciasters then they wouldn't fall off on GD.
Gee, I feel like a loser, I still wear Glasses. I've considered getting Contacts, but I look like a dufus without my glasses. I might get them one day. My worse fear is that evil dryness dropper stuff.

I wear my glasses on anything that doesn't go upside down, from Hypers toWoodies, and I haven't yet had a threat of losing them. On loopers I have to take them off because I don't want to lose my glasses, so I wear pants with Zelcro or Zippers or something. On Anaconda at PKD, I had a lense pop out, but the lense was in my pocket and the tiny screw was still in the frame. First Aid had some screwdrivers.

Does anyone know (site or store) where I can get a glasses scrap that isn't annoying or ridculous looking? I've seen some enthusiasts during the PKD Drop Zone Walkback wearing Perscription Ski Goggles. I was afraid of them.

For the record, my wife has lost a contact twice on coaster rides. Both times were because of her eyes watering, not dryness. She actually caught one sliding across her cheek once.

Personally, I recommend wearing glasses simply for the eye protection.

I have been wearing contacts since I was 13, as well as glasses. I am very near-sighted so I really have no choice other than to wear one or the other. I mostly wear my contacts when I am out, and sunglasses.

I HAVE to wear my sunglasses on coasters most of the time, especially on high-speed coasters. If I don't my eyes will dry up like crazy. My very first MForce ride I was forced to keep my eyes closed. I wasn't allowed at that time to wear my sunglasses and the winds were too much on my eyes. Since then, for one reason or another, they have let me wear my sunglasses. It is NO FUN keeping your eyes closed! I also carry around a bottle of re-wetting solution just in case.

For TTD I went out and bought a strap just so I could wear my shades! I wear my shades 95 % of the time on coasters, even at nightime. I have torics which are not exactly cheap! lol.

Luckily my contacts have never came out, or have I ever got anything in them while riding a coaster. For water parks I HAVE to wear goggles at all times. It sucks being blind! lol.

I would also have the laser surgery if it was more affordable!

I wear glasses all the time and I secure them with a strap just in case. If I ever lost them I would not be able to drive.

I wear glasses most of time, but I choose contacts when I go to the parks. I just put on a pair of cheap sunglasses come ride time. This way, nothing happens to the contacts, and if I lose the shades, it's no big deal. I tried wearing my regular glasses on coasters, but it takes away from the experience for me because I'm always afraid of something happening to them.

The first time I went to SFSTL they made me take off my glasses on all the coasters. The distortion was kinda cool, but I still prefer to see. I got some straps and they work fine.

A funny thing happened on Titan a couple of weeks ago; when I got off, everything was real blurry. I took my glasses off to clean them and you could see where they had been pressed against my eyes...grossed my friends out.

I guess I'm the only person who actually PREFERS glasses to contacts! If I wore contacts, I'd look about 16 all the time... Not to mention that I look about 19 with them on... See my profile pic to understand :)
