GL Employees Quiting Left and Right

CoastaPlaya: If you read my reply to Redman with respect to my examples being of a general nature vs. specific to CF/GL happenings, hopefully that will explain the wage implementation discussion.

Not going on "research" here, but actual business practices and policies. Companies do indeed have specific guidelines concerning wage, raise, job description, subjects.

These are in place so people(to be honest, so companies do not lose money in lawsuits or EEOC fines) will not offer a higher wage, offer advancements, pay increases according to their personal idiotic and incorrect bias to race, gender, age.

Sure, the best thing would be not have people like that working at your company, but that is not going to happen, unfortunately. So, to keep them in check somewhat(Yes, less to do with keeping a biased employee in check vs. covering your collected a$$ets) these are put in place.

It would be a better world if we did not have to deal with the ugliness of racism/sexism/etc. but we do.

CPrulezohio: I had stated in an earlier post that I my points were of a general HR nature. I had apologized to Redman if I had not conveyed that more clearly, and I apologize to you, as well as others if that was not obvious.

James K: Please see a few of my latest posts. Was not attempting to belittle, but rather my directed reply to CoastaPlaya was the nature he was replying and how that would not play out in a boardroom. I have no problem with eating crow and reflecting on myself in a negative light. If you feel I have come across as pompass, that was not my intention. I have never been a stenographer, however that does not mean they do not play an integral part in a corporation.

You would be correct in stating it does not matter the title or position of a person as to how it relates to the quality, integrity, and goodness of an individual. Could not agree more with you.

These are hot buttons to me. Dealing with fairness in the work place. Having proper and fair employment practices and rules are key to a successful corporation, as well as just being the right thing for the employees.

oldschool,

I appreciate your responce. Understanding now that you have a personal attachment and passion for fairness in the workplace makes me understand more where your views stem from.

Although I would still respectfully disagree with some of what you wrote, I appreciate your passion for what you believe to be fair.

Guess who's back? Back Again? James K's back. Tell a friend.

James K:

Nothing wrong with disagreement. We would not be where we are today without differing views, experiences, thoughts. Where would we be with only one political party?(Sorry for that one. That is a completely different open nerve subject. Heck, I am what I like to refer to as "Capitalistic Libertarian", so I tend to get many people that do not see things the way I do)

Olskoo: I hardly needed a three-paragraph bluh bluh about something I'm able to summarize in three sentences.

If you wanted to filter practically all your typing into an executive summary (cuz execs don't have time for bluther--just the point?) it would be this:

GL should pay like CP so they can shuttle personnel back and forth. Actual mileage may vary. We'll know by late June.

Now for a more salient point: Shuttling seasonals to GL isn't as important as importing the CF corporate culture. The real advantage of similar pay scales is recruiting experienced CP/CF seasonals and full-timers to GL leadership positions.

Oh, by the way--everyone in a boardroom is a 'Playa. How do you think they got to the top? It's always a game and the savvy never forget it.

Can I stay, even if it's dark?

mOOSH

But if you stay, no one else will have been the last to leave, so therefore the lights will still be on.

Geez. Some people.

Click... ;)

Okay, that was a$$holish...apologies to all.

How about, my 2 cents:

Although I don't always agree with the Playa', I'd pay him top dollar to sit on my board. He's a smart(a$$) feller. (And no, that's not a pass!) ;)

Granted, top dollar in my corp. might get him half an on-ride photo. ;) *** Edited 5/5/2004 9:36:35 PM UTC by janfrederick***

I should hope that wasn't a pass...
The CO Stalkerette/Groupie Club has markedly sexist selection criteria. ;)

Since when am I a club?
I dunno.
Maybe since a Google search of your AIM name started resembling a Playa Huntin' Fan Page.

I'm a stalker?

Who's the one who Googled my AIM s/n?

I thought someone else showed me that...and proudly, too.
Jeff: You would be correct. I had thought I said I did not have experience in the amusement industry.

Playa: To each their own, on how they want to treat and convey their personal thoughts. As others have commented on not embracing my particular style, I do not find your attempt at humor and seriousness amusing. To each their own. All I ask of you is you do not attempt to play the ethnicity card again. While my ramblings on CB may come across as just that, they do have points to them. The exact points you highlighted, I had already brought up. The exchanging of not only employees, but corporate culture as well.

And for the record, not everybody in a companyp plays the corporate political BS. Having watched family members as well as myself not embrace the corporate games, I can vouch for that. While it may have meant lost titles and future bonuses, it was not worth it. Big difference between being a team player and a backstabber. Also a difference between the person that shows humor and the person that forces humor.

Believe it or not, this has been enjoyable. Unfortunately, time is once again asking more from me. Sorry to say, when I am away from business, I will not be condensing things down to a "Playa snippit". Have had to do that for many years, and it is actually enjoyable to ramble a bit. Have an enjoyable day and park season.

Will be in and out at CB in the future.

Hey! I'm being stalked by a young hottie! Run along now!
By the way, what's your company policy on Internet usage?

All this talk of stalkers, and no mention of the great Carl Kolchak?

The possibilities for an amusement attraction themed on The Night Stalker. I'd be there.

Oldschool: to be fair, when you said you didn't know any Playa's in the boardroom, I had the same reaction that 'Playa did. Seeing as how I'm an old, well-to-do, establishment white guy, that's not the "race card" talking.

If Kolchak's your choice, fine--not that there's anything wrong with that.
As for mine...just click on her name there. Rowr. ;)
