Giga question

is there a way to stop (the way trains stop at the top of the lift hill) in giga Coasters, especially when they are using a cable lift hill? thanks

ps- i hope you understand :P

In RCT2 the only way a train will stop at the top of the lift is if the block ahead hasn't been cleared by the other train that's running the course.

I'm not sure if that's the case with the giga when using the cable lift option though because I don't even use the giga anymore these days after it crashed my game, the only way to find out is to try it I guess.

Correct, Batwing Fan.

Either redesign the coaster so that the block clears or switch to continuous circuit mode and deal with less realistic operation.

SD,if you want to see an example of RCT2 blocking on the giga with a cable lift then just take a look at Goliath in the SF holland scenario.

Actually an easy way out is just to put a chain lift hill somewhere throughout the course because unlike the blocks, it won't slow down the train unless there the next block is empty. It would work though because then the cable won't stop.

The chain lift as a block only works on the wooden coaster. On steel coasters, only the initial lift is counted as a block.

I have used the chain as a block on steel coasters. You must do some testing to find the right placement of the chain in order for the game to recognize it as a block. In my experience it varies by coaster type. Generally it must be at least 2 chain segments followed by a drop, and the chain can not be on a flat segment. Play around with it, maybe it will work for you.

thanks, so what youre saying is that i cant build a MF (which has no MCBB) without the train stopping at the top?

If you have two stations and a final block brake, you should be able to set the mininum wait time really high and then it should work without ever stopping.

The segment "gradual slope to flat with chain" counts as a block.

A chain as a block works on all the coasters, just put them at the very crest of a hill.

I have built a chain lift on a steel coaster (a flyer to be exact) one segment long, and the game recognizes it as a block. The secret is, assuming hte block ahead is NOT clear, the train must be able to stop on the lift (i.e., it doesnt have enough energy on its own to clear the lift). It's hard to do it with just one segment, as the train has ot have enough energy to make it to the chain, but not enough energy to overshoot it.

Is that a Q-bot in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

Normally I'm the one arguing in favor of more imaginative and less "what you'd see at the park" coaster designs. But when it comes to blocks I'm a purist. Rather than tricking the block system with a piece of chain, I'd either redesign the ride so the blocks are timed correctly or just switch over to continuous circuit mode - plus, in CC mode you wouldn't have to mess with the design at all to fit the fake block in.

Just wanted to point that out :)

I have played around with using the chain lift as a block and it seems to work well for me. Here is a giga with a cable lift that I used that method on: http://games.coasterbuzz.com/filedetail.aspx?GameFileID=1702 . I got the result I wanted with a three train operation and no stacking during testing. Once the ride opened to the peeps, there was a little stacking at the final block before the station.

I don't either Lord Ghoncar except for woodies where I found out that they would work as blocks while making antirollbacks. I was pleasently suprised.

I used to do quasi braking with RCT 1 using timings to correctly block rides. That is an option with the continous circuit mode now.

well thanks for the info guys, esp. Apollo Andy, who actually understood my question :P
