I know my question is a tad late, but what do you think of Ghostrider's new tunnel on it's first drop? I think it's an abomination! It ruins the whole aesthetics of the ride! It looks like a prophylactic is on the first drop (pardon my language). Also, I'm sure the tunnel detracts from the ride experience, since you aren't able to appreciate the view from the top of the lift hill. Finally, what does Knotts think is gonna happen when it builds its rumored hypercoaster? The neighbors are gonna complain again about the screams, and then they're gonna tunnel that coaster too. Geesh.

I believe I can fly,
I believe I can touch the sky.
Not really true. It depends on what location they build it on. Neither Perilous Plunge, nor Supreme Scream have any tunneled off areas.
Has anyone been on it yet with the tunnel? I would have to think it's not cool, but I'd like to hear from some people who have been on it.

I saw some pictures of the tunnel from the ground and I almost passed out. But then I saw a picture of the tunnel from the lift. It looks realy nice up close.
I haven't been on it yet with the covering, I will in two weeks. I hear it looks terrible, but provides an erie effect on the ride, especially at night.
I think it might be kind of a neat experience. Maybe they should have have tunneled the lift as well so you can't really tell when you're at the top.
I've ridden it both ways. I don't mind the tunnel...but it doesn't quite seem as tall with it. Something about coming over the top and seeing nothing but blue sky, fluffy clouds, and cute birdies is missing...

Decisions determine destiny; Destiny determines decisions.
I went to Knott's this past Wednesday and let me tell you, that tunnel may kill the look of GhostRider, but it adds SO much to the ride experience. You feel like you're going to be launched straight into the ceiling of the tunnel (especially back seat) while going down the drop! The only thing is the view is taken away, but the 'sound barrier' shaft ADDS TO THE RIDE!
Besides, you still get a great view right before the death drop(3rd drop).
I think the tin roof detracts from the look of GhostRider, but it does nothing to affect the ride. The general consensus is that that they put the roof on to keep the neighbors happy. I think the only neighbor they are worried out is themselves, the lift hill is right in line with Radison hotel, part of the Knott's resort. No other attraction has a major noise control modifications. Am I the only one?
Yeah, tunnels can be cool when sound echos through them. Example: Steel Force at Dorney.
You go 75mph through a metal tunnel with everyone screaming. The result=fun!

I have been on Ghostrider (my all time favorite ride) both ways. I do miss the view but while on the ride it actually makes it somewhat more exciting. There are lots of good views on many other parts of the ride. It does look a little strange from outside the park. I do like how they put the logo on it. But I think they should have used wood so it blends in with the rest of the ride. Not sure why they didn't. By the way, it is exactly true that the lift and first drop are aimed right at the Knotts owned Radisson hotel.

Home Park: Knotts Berry Farm!
but also Disneyland and DCA
It is not so much a "tunnel" as much as it is a "roof." You can still see out the sides. I will agree that it gives you a "facechopper" going down the first drop. As long as it continues to run with no brakes unitl the end, they can add as many roofs, tunnels, gizmos, gadgets, or whatever else thay can think of. This ride still delivers more punch than almost anything.

"X" marks the spot in 2001!
It sucks during the day, but you're looking down anyway, it traps the Mrs. Knotts smell (which rocks) and at night, It's become the darkest damn drop I've ever been on. You can't see a damn thing.

Oooooh, my freekin' head.... Too many G's Too many G's! No, no, Too much Beer before the G's! Home Park: Knott's Berry Farm
Yeah, the roof really does make it a little more thrilling. The view isn't obstructed too bad, because you can see all over the place during the lift, just not forwards. If you look to the side, you can see long beach! (something my roommate points out every SINGLE time!) So yeah, a tunnel would have been better, but the roof is okay.
