Ghostrider's "New" Copper Train

Wednesday, April 24, 2002 6:59 PM
I just saw the new copper train (repainted to a real copper not dull brown) today. It looks real nice and all, but it's color it's kinda orangish. I mean it handles WONDERFULLY and all, but its like Knott's is doing some kind of color trend, I mean, they must have gotten discounts on the paint for the Plunge! But the silver and gold trains are down, just to let you all know Copper is on line and its running pretty smooth, fast and overall great!

I think the trains are Gold, Silver, and Copper. Thats what the ride-ops tell me and stuff.

I didn't realize GR hjad three trains, but I thought I had scene pics before with a train that was a different color than what I saw over Spring Break (my first visit to Knott's). Was there ever a black train? I seem to remember that being the other color in the pics, but maybe it just came across really dark.

The Copper Train is the best looking train now in my opinion. It actually does look like copper and not just brown anymore.

And more importantly, it handles better than any of the other trains at this time. My recent rides on this train were considerably better than recent rides on some of the other trains.

And I believe that the gold train is in rehab right now...

The copper train runs like a bat outta hell. It also seems to negotiate the helix better than the other trains. It just tracks better. Riding Ghostie this past weekend was quite a warm up for Legend coming up in May!

Copper is orange. it's not brown. When ghostrider opened, they ran 3 trains at a time. this stopped after a couple months because the operators could not keep up. now, it runs 2 trains on the weekends, holidays, and in the summer. on weekdays in the winter, they run 1 train, but there is NEVER a line on a winter weekday. gold and silver are not both down (i bet gold will be down for a while), they are just not needed except on the weekends and summer. knotts wouldn't dare to run only 1 train as the line would get to 2 hours. leave that to six flags magic mountain. BTW, did the copper train get that cool air brush paint job of the ghostrider on the sides of the cars.

Speedy:

Yah they got the airbrush job done on it. Looks cool. and the front logo got fixed. And I do remember a couple of occasions on a weekday where they ran 2 trains, gold and silver, becuase I remember somebody losin' there lunch on silver! It was only like 2 weeks ago. Gold I think will be down for awhile now because it's used alot more than silver or copper, well, uh wait, hmmm copper was one of the first trains, back then it was a dull dark brown (ugly) and gold I think was online with it too. So I think gold has been used more I can't remember but it does need rehab. Gold just blows IMO (sorry guys it does to me). Oh yah and getting stapled is NOT fun in anyway at all including on a woodie! God!

you're right. gold is the most used train. it really needs some attention. imo, silver is pretty good, but i never recall riding the copper train in my last 20 rides.

Yes I definatly agree with the gold needing attention. I remember walking out the exit and going under the structure and seeing everone's body get slammed backwards on the gold train! Never saw that on the silver train! I'm goin back today if weather permits, I must inspect (not really I just wanna look at it more and see all the stuff they did) the train some more! Man copper train rules!

The ride ops say that the Silver train is the fastest. I tend to agree with that, but I think the best ride is from the Copper train.

BTW, if you were nice to Heather she would not staple you. She would let me ride with only 2 clicks on the bar.

Gold, Silver & Copper

I asked Heather to go out with him at Solace. She just slammed on my lapbar more... I hope to god that she won't be running Xcelerator, come media day.

Yah I didn't get stapled next time I went they weren't really in a "stapling mood". But anyhoos yah the Copper train is alot faster than the silver. I do remember the silver train going pretty fast though, yet copper beat the silver out. I think the operation schedule will be Copper and Silver so Gold can have its turn down below in rehab (Finally!) then it'll be Silver's turn unless Copper has something extremely wrong with it, which I don't will happen or anything. But you never know. Oh and I think soon it's gonna be time to re-track some parts of this ride, the wood looks like it's deteriorating in some places.
