Ghostrider shutdown

I seem to recall that KBF closes GR for a couple weeks every year for re-tracking, major maintenance, etc. I could not find anything on the official site - as my wife and I may be out Cali-way in the next month, knowing when GR is out of operation would be very valuable information. Anyone got the skinny on this?

There was a 2 week shutdown back in September. I think that is the only time of year GhostRider is scheduled to close. I must admit, that was a rough 2 weeks ;) !

I would recommend contacting the park directly to see if they can give you an answer.

It actually closed down twice for rehab within the last year. I was just down before the Haunt and just before summer last year.

It's well worth Knott's closing Ghostrider for a rehab. We wouldn't want it ending up like Colossus.

The next scheduled maintenance shutdown for Ghostrider set to start on Jan 22. Probably for about 2-3 weeks. I asked a GR ride operator, that was her reply.

Thanks for all the info guys - as it turns out, we changed our plans and are going to IOA next week instead. Good thing, I guess, as if Soggy's right GR could have been down for our trip. My wife may still have to go to L.A. for business in February, so I might tag along if it's up and running by then.
