Ghostrider at Knott's gets roof over lift

Posted | Contributed by

Some people look forward to it, others could do with out it. Knott's Berry Farm has enclosed the first drop of the fabulous Ghostrider, allegedly to help reduce the noise made by screaming riders.

Thanks Soggy, for the photo!

I don't get why the people who live there are trying to screw around with KBF. Anyways why couldn't they make it go all the way down? It would of made it look like a tunnel and real thing to guests.

I think it's fine now, and nothing more should be added to the tunnel. This is a problem though, in my eyes, because everyone loves to get to the top of a ride and look all around the park (possibly picture opportunities *wink*). Now the feeling of height has all been stolen by that blue monstrosity!
That really destroys the look of the coaster. Too bad for all you Knotts fans.

YOU LIGHT UP WE BLOW UP- CALICO MINE RIDE
Wow, that really takes away from the overall beauty of the ride. Oh well, what can you do?

Its NOT blue! That's sheet metal reflecting the sky. I'm sure it will all be covered with wood soon.
Man that is stupid! If the neighbors can't take the noise put your house up for sale and move!
That is ugly! If I had a dog that ugly I'd shave it's butt and teach it to walk backwards.

What is it with Cedar Fair parks and their neighbors. Dorney gets lots of complaints too.

I bet it's a temporary fix. My guess is that they had to take some immediate action that wasn't budgeted for and will probably make it more "themish". Imagine that hill with an "A-Frame" shape. I just can't see Knott's leaving it like that. It looks dork!

Oh my freekin' head!
Also, look at what Disney had to do.

if the people complaining moved in after the park was built, then they can deal with it, but if they lived there before it was built, then they have a reason to complain.
If you can find anyone who has lived near the park since the 1940's, when they began developing rides on the property, please show them to me. Otherwise, you moved in next to an amusement park, deal with it.

Peace, Love, and Rollercoasters.........we need more of all three.
Back in the days before disclosure laws, realtors went out of their way to downplay the effect of the "neighbor"(KBF). After the people moved in they discovered the trains blowing their whistles, band organs booming and people screaming. Thus started the ongoing battle between Knotts and the surrounding neighbors. Which,as Wild One has pointed out, there weren't any when Walter Knott first opened the farm to the public. The area was all orchards and berry fields.
i agree with gigaCoasters2k. They should of made the tunnel go all the down. It looks tacky that way. Espacally that blue color. they betta do somethin' about it.

If they made the tunnel go all the way down, you would loose that great head chopper at the bottom of the drop. Also, the cover is not blue. Try reading the above posts before you respond. If you had, you would have found that someone pointed out how the cover is shiny sheet metal and that it is just reflecting the sky. :)

Sorry but IMO it just looks dumb.

To everyone... I work in Airport Management, my only thought on this noise issue is that people are just plain stupid. You should hear how many complaints we get about aircraft. They all shut up when you inform them that the airport has been here for 90 years, and they've only been here for 10. It's pretty lame. I honestly beleive that people buy homes near amusement parks and airports at 2 or 3 in the morning or something.
I took a good look at the picture and the crane there makes me think that they proabaly arent finished with it.

Flashback sucks and should have the same fate as windjammer
I don't understand why people think that because realtors did not tell them that there would be noise that they did not know it would be there. Didn't those people go out and spend some time on the property before buying it? I swear that some people will make up any excuse for their lack of research.
