GhostRider

Hey, it'm me again, yeah the guy who's going to Knott's Berry Farm and Six Flags Magic Mountian next week, but geuss what I found out that three main rides I wanted to go on are down. =(  So now I have two questions for you very nice people, one does anybody know when they'll be back up and running by next Friday, and two is it still worth going to Knott's with Ghostrider, Vertigo, and Perlouis Plunge down. Please give me a response just in case I have to do some replanning.
Ghostrider down?  OUCH!!! :(

There are tons of other rides and attractions there. Monty and Supreme Scream for example. But from what I hear, you would be missing out not being able to ride GhostRider.

I spoke to someone at the park last week (on Tues. I believe) that told me Ghostrider would be back up by February 15. She checked with the ride department before giving me any info, but I'm still hesitant to put too much faith in what I was told, as the week before they said that Ghostrider wouldn't be down in February at all.
If it was me, I'd call before leaving for CA, and again when you're there.  If it's open, you have to go to KBF.

I heard that it would be down until the 18th.  But if you talked specifically to someone in that dept. then they are the authority on the subject.

Agreed that it won't be the same without Ghostrider, but even so, there is a lot of cool stuff there.  If you don't expect to get to visit soon, go now, if you will have a chance to go soon, wait.

That way you will get the full experience with Ghostrider, Perilous Plunge? VertiGO and Xcelerator.

0-82 in 2.3 seconds! =Wow!

GhostRider going through a rehab. It would (or at least should) be up and running in time for Winter Coaster Solace on March 2. I think you would know why Vertigo and Parilous Plunge are closed. They are still investigating.
Will perelous plunge ever reopen???

STILL amazed that PP hasn't gone through one of those not-so-subtle name changes.  I mean, if KBF ends up in court over the "incident", wouldn't it SOUND a lot better for their lawyers to NOT have to keep repeating the word "perilous"...just wondering...

I also talked to someone from KBF last week. She said they "hoped" to have it back up before this weekend. I hope so. I am going Sunday afternoon ONLY if GR is operating. If not, then no lure to KBF.

Thank you soo much guys, looks like if you're right I'm still going to Knotts Berry Farm , and like I said before you're very nice people. Hey and if any of you guys who hasn't responded please do. Every comment is helpful to me.

Hey I will be going on Wednesday the 20th due to the all so famous Senior Ditch Day.  Which rides will  be open?
Hello again, for anyone who's like me and wanted to know when the ride is openning I went to their web-site and e-mailed them, and they emailed me the very next day (That to me show hospitality.) So any way this is what it said, Hi Neil:  I am sorry but Perilous Plunge and Vertigo remain down and we have no date when they will reopen. The great news is that GhostRider will open later today from a scheduled rehab and be open if you visit on 2/22. Boomerang however, will be in scheduled rehab from 2/19 through 2/28. Sorry for any disappointments this may cause you. Thank you for your interest in Knott's Berry Farm.
GhostRider did indeed open on the 15th at about 11:30 am.

KBF and hospitality are virtually synonymous...friendliest park outside of Indiana (Hi Paula).  PP will probably re-open (my bet is still with a new moniker) after the "issues" regarding the lawsuit have been resolved, and with whatever changes in policies and/or restraints FULLY in effect.  As for Boomerang, no big loss...as long as Monte, Jaguar!, and GR are open, and the S&S SS, the park rocks!  Food is WAY better than average at theme parks, too...

I was at Knotts on Sunday and got in 6 spins on Ghostrider (still my #2 coaster (MF #1), even after riding X { X did kick ass!}). It was raining off-on and GR and Monte close during rain.
We got the dbl WHAMMY on Monte...Got to the station (no lines) just as they were about to send the train full of people (we're next), when they ordered everyone off the train for some sort of malfunction. They invited people to stay or leave as the time for repair was unknown. We decided to wait a few minutes. The mechanic came, fixed the problem rather quickly, and then cam the announcement: "We are no longer down for maintenence, but we are temporarily closed because of the rain. grrrrr
Didnt get a ride on Monte. PS Boomerang in the freezing cold rain isnt fun! Chili Burger at the burger stand near GR kicks butt!

PPS-

After several spind on GhostRider, I can confidently say that the BACK seats are Sooooooo much better than the front. Greater air-time, more forces, AND a smoother ride.

The ride seems much more forgiving on the first twisting drop (usually the only part that rattles my brain) since the last time I rode it in September.

I've traded in my 2000 Giovanola for a 2002 Arrow X4D :)
