Getting to Great Adventure from NYC?

I'm going to New York for a week with my acting class on June 20th, I know we have a spare day. Would it be possible to take the train or something to Great Adventure? Kingda Ka looks...interesting. :)

I don't know anything about American transportation. Help would be appreciated.

Never been outside Europe before, I'm very excited.

I'm from Wiscosnin so I can't really help you with New York transportation, but if there are no trains that would work for you try checking out a bus. Greyhound is the big bus line in America, so if you check them out I'm sure you'll find something.

From NYC you can take a NJ Transit Bus directly to SFGadv or you can take an NJ Transit Train to Asbury Park and then transfer to a bus to SFGadv. Check the New Jersey Transit website for fares and times.
Theres a bus that leaves from the port authority and goes directly to the park. I think it heads back to the city at 8pm( but this probably has changed). The last time i took it to SFGADV, they had a deal with a ticket for the park. check that out.
How long would you say it generally takes?
Probably about 90 minutes.
I'd take the New Jersey Transit bus at Port Authority also. The bus leaves at around 10am and leaves Greatr Adventure at 7pm. The good thing is that the admission to the park is included in your bus ticket. (no waiting at the front gate) Have fun!
