Germany Rollercoaster Trip 1 (Part 1)

Associated parks:
None

Well, this is my first attempt at writing a short review. In short, I am over here via military operation and I am going to try to make the best out of it. Pretty neat that all of these rollercoasters opening up overseas this year (and last year too) and next thing I know, I am being deployed overseas. Seeing that I can use this opportunity to ride some great rides and visit foreign parks, here I go.

Before I start, let me say that driving on the autobahn is very cool. Go as fast as you can (200+ km/hr) and get to your destination quick.

1st park = Erlebnispark Tripsdrill. A small park that has two rollercoasters. Rasender Tausendfussler is my 178th rollercoaster and my first international ride. A family coaster with a long train where you travel the path twice. G'sengte Sau is a wild mouse/twister combination ride and is themed around in and around a castle (there are many beautiful castles in Germany). The ride has the usual hairpin turns as well as bunny hills and spiraling down drops, including one that goes underneath the ground.

Next park that day was Holiday Park. I passed the Rhine River going here and a big castle. Anyways, the big attraction is Expedition Ge-Force. I would have to say that it is one of the best rollercoasters I have ridden. The first drop (82 degrees down and 74 degrees turning to the right) is very steep and unbelievable! The first drop is gut-wreching in the fact that you get tossed out of your seat entering drop and then while you are still airborne, the train turns steeply to the right and you somehow fall (like a freefall ride) into your seat at the bottom of the drop. It is very gut-wreching and at the bottom of the drop is where you feel the 4.5 Gs - all of it. There are 7 moments of forceful airtime (like the hills on Superman:ROS (SF DL) and many overbanked turns (like MForce) mixed in. It is a non-stop ride and it seems like no matter how hard to hold on, you are airborne on every hill. I would easily rank this over the Superman: ROSs (the ones I rode) because more forceful airtime hills and no time-consuming, feet eating helixes (don't get me wrong, I love Superman:RoS alot). This Intamin creation is perhaps their best yet (as far as hypercoaster layouts and succession of elements) and I can not wait until one is made like this in the States so that the rest of you coasterbuzzers can experience this awesome rollercoaster (without having to be deployed). A definate must-ride!

The other rollercoaster, Super Wirbel, is a standard corkscrew model with an extra perimeter length circle.

That's the end of my day and there's more to come.

Awesome TR! Your review of ExGeF makes me want to go even more now! God, 82ยบ down, and it's not even 200ft tall! That is going to be something, I can't wait for July to come around!

Did you get to Europa Park and ride Silver Star? I am eagerly awaiting a TR of that ride (and some really good pics, I haven't seen any on the 'net yet).

Hey thanks Legendary. Yes, it is an awesome rollercoaster. What is happening in July?

Yes I did go to Europa Park and that TR is on the way. Unfortunately, I can not update my website while on this mission so the pics and other surprises will have to wait until I return to the States. Look for Part 2 very soon. . .

Is that ACE's Europe tour? If it is, all I have to say is...lucky. :)

SFEG awaits The Flying Coaster-coming in 2002!

Yep, July is that European Coaster Odyssey. 17 days and just as many parks, not to mention six countries!

About Europa Park, I am eagerly awaiting your TR (not to mention pics)! Seeing as how Nitro is my #1 coaster, I'm drooling at the thought of riding Silver Star. Could be the makings of a new #1 for me.

Thanks again Genesis!

Wow! That's neat. I did not know that ACE had something going on overseas (I am not a member). I looked at the schedule and it looks like fun. I won't go to Oakwood (I will miss Megaphobia), Dreamland, or Rotunda though. . . Quite expensive but it will be well worth it. Maybe I'll cross paths with yall.
