Georgia Scorcher- The Best Standup?

I know what some people will say...." Its so short, its not tall, only two inversions" but I tend to think differently. B&M has the tendency to put inversions after inversion (don't get me wrong I love there coasters), but they got adventurous on the Georgia Scorcher. It harkens baack to there original stand-up, Iron Wolf. I LOVE IT. It focuses more on twists, dives, dips, and the things that you jsut don't find on alot of coasters anymore. Does anyone else tend to think this way? Any other great loopers like this? Converse my fellow buzzers!

Next to King Cobra, it is my favorite standup coaster.

What do I think this? Its because its not as intense on your legs as all the other B&M's I have ridden (Mantis, Chang). So I get more enjoyment out of it.

Iron Wolf is my next in line. Haven't ridden the Vortex's yet to judge anymore.

Oh! For anyone with the greatest coaster simulation on earth, No Limits, I have made a recreation of Gerogia Scorcher. People on both coastergames.net and coastersims.com have said it is extremely accurate. If you wanna download to learn the layout or just for the halibut, go ahead. Links:   Coastergames.netMembers

Note: you dont have to be a member to download coasters from coastergames.net. You do for coastersims.com, so jsut use that one!

I don't think this is a favorite coaster thing. Its a conversation about a coaster, and what makes it unique. I never said..."what is you favorite standup"...I simply asked if anyone thought the way i do about unique layouts such as Georgia Scrocher's. I guess we will see though.

It's second only to Riddler's Revenge as my favorite. This is one short but sweet coaster. It feels alot like Iron Wolf to me, but with much smoother elements. This one B&M got right.

Wow, DWeaver, nice to know we DO agree on the stand-ups, usually we end up on opposite sides of the fence, LOL. I can't rank every ride, but I do put RRV just a nudge ahead of Ga Scorcher...if by some twist of fate I get to ride RRv without the brakes (come ON CoasterCon), it will probably move up a bit further.

But the compact layout of Ga Scorcher means lots of twists and turns, lots of those yummy positive gs...Still haven't gotten to "the original" hopefully this year.  I loved Mantis at first, not so much lately...for now, KC at PKI has moved in "Bronze Medal" position...

I haven't ridden the Ga Scorcher yet. I like Chang a lot...probably my favorite Standup. Mantis was too rough on the legs, and had the longest line in the park when I was there, but otherwise it was good. I hear that Chang has gotten rougher, or more rough on the legs, but I thought it was pretty smooth and comfortable when I rode it, but that was about 3 years ago, and I think I only rode it once. Iron Wolf is the only Standup that I have ridden more than twice, so it's kinda hard to judge.

Current favorite coasters:
Wooden: 1) Beast 2) Raven 3) Son of Beast 4) The Boss 5) Timber Wolf
Steel: 1) Raging Bull 2) Millennium Force 3) V2 4) Wild Thing 5) Mr. Freeze

I rode Chang 17 times last year...and it has gotten rougher but not to bad at all....

I haven't ridden Georgia Scorcher, but it looks like an improved version on PGA's Vortex, and Iron Wolf. It is alot like the original stand ups. Kinda werid how it was the last one they built right after they started building the huge ones. I think RR is the best, I have ridden it, and most people give the nod to RR. The only reason people don't like RR is becuase of the hype. It is MUCH different that the other B&M's were used to seeing. Georgia Schorcher, however, doesn't look as imposing so people are really surprized how good it is when they ride!

I have a dream! That SFMM fans will be able to walk hand in hand with CP's!
AND no ONE cares what a coaster is and what a coaster isn't!

Do we disagree that much Rollergator? I didn't really notice that, but I'm not surprised. I know some of my opinions are out there.  ;)

I love GS's little 90 degree banked straight hill before the corkscrew, also the helix while leaning over the jagged rocks.  It's the only stand-up I've ridden, but I think it'll be hard to beat.  It's also one of few B&M straight lift hill/first drops.

The Scorcher is really good. I too compare it with Iron Wolf, and I haven't ridden Riddler so I couldn't say it's better. Since the Scorcher is a newer B&M, it shows that they (B&M) aren't making un-intense rides.

Scorcher's #1

DWeaver, wouldn't the world be pretty dull if everyone agreed on everything?...I really do think the stand-ups SEEM to age faster than the inverteds...that is to say they become rough more quickly, more noticeably....wasn't really all that jazzed about the Vortexes (vortices?), or Chang, and Mantis took a considerable "hit" IMO after last year's trip.

Upon further review...I've decided KC overcomes the "aging" problem in large part due to simplicity of design/layout...

I would put The Georgia Scorcher ahead of Mantis and Chang, but not before The Riddler's Revenge.
I have to first say that it's the only stand up I've ridden, but it's my favorite coaster after Mindbender.  (Yes I've ridden coasters at other parks then SFOG).  It looks rather tame, but packs a nice surprising punch.  I don't miss the lack of multiple inversions one bit.
I have ridden the Georgia Scorcher and its definatley one of the best stand-ups out there.  This coaster proves that you dont need inversions just to have a great coaster.
My Favorite Stand-Up has to be Iron Wolf, not only because it's the first B&M but because of it's great layout:)Its a great ride in my book, but can get bumpy, but then again all coasters can get rough!

I just love the design of the Scorcher.  That ride, along with the new Batman floorless at SFNE show how versatile B&M can be.  There is definitely a market for rides that have a small footprint and still pack a punch.  Who knows... as parks expand and have less space to work with, maybe we'll see more great compact rides like GS.
my favorite stand up is also iron wolf, but i would love to ride this one if it was based upon it
